It starts off a bit film noir moody, switches to an almost Rachmaninov feel and then gets romantic. Thanks. That's all completely intentional of course Someone else who heard it was reminded a bit of Angelo Badalamenti, whose stuff can be a bit noirish, and there is a bit early on though that I think of as "the Twin Peaks bit" but it happened by accident rather than design tehlord wrote: I really will have to brush up on my keyboard skills again! Oh believe me, my keyboard skills ain't that great - 20 years of not practising and lots of widdling around one handed on monophonic synths in recent years have really taken their toll! Thanks again for listening and commenting Shane Sanders wrote: Great work!

Somebody here asked if there was "a sheet of it or a midi or some other visual". I recorded audio, so there was no midi of it.
However, it gave me a good excuse to have a look at MuseScore (Linux scoring software) and I've had a fun weekend getting to grips with that and notating the piece -- I've not done anything like this in a long, long time. If anyone's interested, it can be found here in PDF. ---- And it is as it is and we take as we find / Always next season's buds on the bough / But I'll never find a better time / Hard though it is to allow / I'll never find a better time / To be alive than now |

Well, I feel like I know her, but sometimes my arms bend backwards Thanks, I like Badalamenti's work, it's always very atmospheric which is what Lynch's stuff needs. I suppose my handle's a bit of a giveaway, I always forget about that hailduong wrote: Nice song, which VST did you use to made this song? It just sounds like a real piano... So Sampletekk Black Grand Ambient gigfile but it's available in other formats. I did use a few body and soundboard resonance impulse responses mixed low to try and make it sound a little more realistic. I'll echo other people's sentiments here - I really enjoyed listening to this. I definitely picked up a Lynch/Badalamenti vibe at the beginning, though overall it struck me as nocturne-like for lack of a better term.
As a fellow piano player, I can relate to how difficult it can be to play a good accompaniment with the left hand, and for the most part I'd say you nailed it. And the Sampletekk piano sounds very good, it sounds like a "classical piano" to me and is well suited to your piece. Random thought, but there's another piano out by Tonehammer called Emotional Piano that would really go well with this piece too, I think. |

It's the fact that I'm left-handed that causes me problems as my left has a tendency to be much stronger and louder than the right. It was a real effort to rein it in, but a little bit of roll-off at the low end helped as well. Thanks for the piano recommendation. Unfortunately, it isn't anything I could use as I don't have Kontakt and there's no native app for Linux that plays Kontakt instruments. ---- And it is as it is and we take as we find / Always next season's buds on the bough / But I'll never find a better time / Hard though it is to allow / I'll never find a better time / To be alive than now |
