I'm needing to upgrade my internal HDD because it is showing signs of failing. My choices now are as follows:
7200RPM Drive. Noiser. Shorter Battery. Faster Performance. Hybrid. Momentus XT 750GB. 2nd Gen. Noiser. Shorter Battery. Fastest Performance. I already have two external firewire drives for audio and samples. I just need an internal drive that is larger. My current 250GB is almost full. I would like to leave some samples on my internal drive such as the Logic library so I don't have to attach my drive every time I want to sketch out an idea. I'm leaning towards the Hybrid because of performance. My laptop is also used for other work stuff so performance would be a plus. There are some points I am concerned about the hybrid/7200RPM drive.
Noise. How much noiser is a 7200RPM drive in the MacBookPro? Shorter Battery. Anyone knows how much would a 7200RPM drive shortern the battery by? Let just say general use or just using some synths. Minimal audio tracks. |

Anyone has experience with a 7200RPM drive in a MacBook Pro? Is the noise much louder? I record with the MacBook Pro in the same room. Would that be audible? |
