I've played live guitar through a shedload of delays and stuff over the years but never actually 'looped'. As in play a part, have it loop, overdub another etc etc.

I've just downloaded mobius but was wondering what else people would recommend, software-wise. I'm thinking more of controllable looping (maybe sync'ed to host tempo, select/mute individual takes etc) rather than just sound on sound on sound...

I have a copy of Live lite, apparently Lives controllability makes it good for this kind of thing? I have some old dictaphone pedals I was thinking of wiring up as midi controllers too if that makes a difference.
