I foolishly attempted to update my 1.2 32 bit Alchemy with 1.25 x64 and though it seemed to go through the update ok, I can not get the plug in to appear in any of my hosts (Tracktion 3, Sonar X1 LE, Wavelab 6, Chainer). I have tried uninstalling all instances and re-installing 1.25 without success. Can anyone advise me please.

Maybe a dum question but in need of information from you, are any of your host's 64 bit ?

The problem is most likely caused by installing the 64-bit version of Alchemy, but you were previously using the 32-bit version. Both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions may be installed at the same time, but the plugin DLL's are installed to different folders and each host is configured to look in a specific folder to find the plugin.

So the first thing to try is installing the 32-bit version of 1.25. During installation:

- make sure "Update Alchemy" is selected
- check the plugin path is the same as the 1.20 installation
- set the data folder to use the same path as the 1.20 installation
- you can ignore any prompts for key files or Camel Sound files since these are already installed

Once you've done this the plugin should show up in your hosts and have access to the same presets + samples.

Let us know if you need more info.

Peace,
Andy.

Thanks guys. My confused thinking to blame - (my win7 is 64 bit therefore I need 64 bit plugin.)

Happily all is working again after installing 1.25 32bit.

Well, not necessarily actually; it all depends if the host you're using is x64 or x86, in order to avoid unnecessary bridging.

For example I use REAPER x86 in Win x64 and I use the x86 version of Alchemy.
