What was the guitar related board again, where tons of guitar related plugins are being beta tested, discussed and the likes? Also a good starting point.

Guitar Amp Modeling, perhaps?

I think so, yes. There, LePou and some other crazy amp/stomp heads float around. Ideal place to get your software only guitar amp fix.

TSE, Ignite Amps, Nick Crow and a few others are worthy of some love. High quality freeware that's as good or better than payware. If you don't need the all in one approach, and don't mind working in a modular chain of plugins, then these will do it for you.

The indie guitar plugin devs more often release/beta their stuff there first, or only there. Sometimes it never see's the light here until a KVR member post's a link to it. Although Alu (Wild Hades/Ignite Amps) has been active here.

Ok, got a chance to play around and got to say I'm surprised at how good some of these are. Far too much focus is given to the big pros with amp sims - theres far better free stuff around than Gr, Amplitube, etc

LePou RAWKS. And his Mac conversions are really a nice addition too.

Just compared Ignite Amps Anvil to Amplitube HiAmp. Used the same Torpedo cab and power amp on both, side by side.
Even on 4x Oversampling, all I can say that teh Anvil is definitely on par with the commercial gear, if not better. I'd suggest everyone to download and try it, it is available for Mac AU/VST platforms too!

Now all we need is for more work to be done on cab modeling so that impulses are not longer needed... HiHi
