I recently found a neat gem called Extreme Sample converter. It has the ability to convert VSTi output to a sample collection that can be dumped to a various number of formats.

here's the website if you're interested in fiddling around with it Smile

I decided I wanted to use it to make a GM bank that would kill my default GM.DLS that windows DirectMusic loads for games that use MIDI. The fortunate thing is that Extreme sample converter makes it a breeze to compile new Presets rather quickly and effectively, although it doesn't have very nice controls for tweaking the patch details, such as the Filter cutoff, Sample center frequency, and range, and many others that are missing. So I tried a few Authoting tools like Viena, and.. I dug around and I couldn't find anything else. Even though I really like that Viena works, and is more or less functional, the interface is not quite where I would like it to be since I am undertaking a task that requires a lot of time to finish to start with. Is there anything besides Viena for windows?

Thanks!
