+1 Iphone/Ipad thing seems to be IKM's big thing. They seem to be happy flogging dead horses. Don't get me wrong, I like and have many of their products but I think they are loosing track of what's important, ie creating phone apps when they should be concertrating on new virtual studio instruments ---- Life's too short to program soft synths, that's why we have romplers. |

I uninstalled the last of my Sampletank libraries a month or so ago. So sad really, but Miroslav just sat there while Kontakt kept getting all the love.... it follows ST2.5 and Sonic Synth 2 into the back-of-the drawer plugin pile. I bought Sampletank and Sonik Synth back at version 1, and used them for years before getting Kontakt, but even though I defended them for so long I realised the world has moved over. ST3 may well be near, but with so long between iterations I fear it has its work cut out just to stay a player at all. ST2, it's what, 9 years old now? ---- 11, 418th in line to the KVR throne |

When a developer takes this long to get a new product version out, it makes it hard to invest in new products because the bug fixing may never happen, and you may get stuck with a basically unsupported product. 9 years? that is ridiculous!
I would buy their iPad/iPhone stuff if I had an Apple device I guess, as they do seem to have interest in that arena, but I won't be buying any of their premium, expensive desktop stuff. It just seems a risky investment. |

I hear ya, braj.
And yes, the constant stream of ios stuff has a burner under my beans, but I'm hoping that the advances that IK has made with Amplitube, T-Racks and all that istuff will make its way into ST3. The current version is so slouch though! It features effects from CSR, T-Racks and Amplitube, sounds great and the interface is dead simple to use (once you change the damn color!) And its age has let me build an INCREDIBLE library really cheaply, so I'm not gonna complain about THAT! The current Total Workstation gb is an even more amazing deal with the facebook code (40% off the sale price) For less than the price of one, you get all five. This is the cheapest I've seen TW2 for years, and the next GB level is close for that 2nd bonus Xpansion Tank too. But back on track, Squids from Sonic Reality has posted here that ST3 will be backward compatible with current Powered by Sampletank instruments/libraries and they will actually sound even better! In the time since ST2 was released, the bar has gone up across the board for sound quality, features and GUI design. But if the 2nd generations of Amplitube and T-Racks are any indication, ST3 is gonna be something. I'd just like to use my Jampoints on it before they expire! Can I reactivate my Jampoints? So what IS that bottom-line price with the 40% discount?
EDIT: oh I guess it is $160, still too rich for my blood at this time. But at that price it is hard to say it is a bad deal. |

$120 usd, or if you own ANYTHING that's registered with IK, (say, even a $5 iphone app That's the best price I've EVER seen for it in three years. There are some great tips and tricks here for all the IK VIs, I learn (and occasionally teach) stuff every Group Buy! KVR/eSoundz: Xenobt |

Oh well, no worries, my guess is this sort of sale will make its way back round again. |

I mean BUY the iphone app, even if you don't need it) to get the discount... eh? eh?
This isn't some kind of cheating, some IK folks dropped the same hint elsewhere on KVR. I'm just alley-ooping it here! And trust me, either SampleMoog or SampleTron alone are worth that. But I know that $90 is still dear, hell, I'm Scots but the folks here at KVR make me out a spendthrift! KVR/eSoundz: Xenobt |

Actually I think my eyes are bigger than my stomach, as good as the deal is, I have this covered in many ways by many other, probably better plugins. My wife sometimes buys stuff she doesn't really want or need just because it is on clearance and 'too good a deal to pass up' but this is a bad bad reason to part with your money. I think I better get over it before I end up with buyer's remorse. I doubt my music will suddenly get better after purchasing this. |

Old or not I still love SampleTank. For me it just works. Its a basic workstation with basic stuff and IK still supports it. I spoke with them on twitter a few times and they say SampleTank 3 is coming but they aren't going to put it out until its absolutely ready. In the mean time they have been doing a lot of fx stuff like the custom shop for Amplitube and the black and white T Racks singles. Its not all ios apps |

I hear that too, braj. Body and soul, home and hearth trump anything music related, no matter how good a deal.
But about adding to your music, I'll speak from my experience. The thing I like about the IK stuff is it's a little quirky, and often adds some "life" (for lack of a better word) into my stuff. Often a "better sounding", but utterly forgettable string or piano on another VI has so much more character with the IK instrument layered on top. But I also know that's not everyone's cup of tea, and know you know best for your needs. (and wants!) However, if you wanted a looksee before the deal is over, Sampletank Free comes with outtakes from the TW2 instruments, so you can test drive it if you'd like. http://ikmultimedia.com/sampletankfree/ KVR/eSoundz: Xenobt |

Well I was also remembering how I recently deleted a ton of sample material that comes with Studio One from my hard drive simply because I don't use it. I am finding synths and modeled instruments more useful personally, and have good Moog impersonation stations like Diva already so does it really make sense to buy more samples? I have some stuff on my short list to purchase and I shouldn't blow my wad on more samples that I wouldn't otherwise be shopping for just because the price is low. It is again the wrong reason to open my wallet. 'A fool and his money are soon parted' rings true to this fool and luckily I caught myself this time |
