Oh I'm loving it, definitely $20 very well spent. The controls may be limited but there is still a huge range to be had with just the envelopes and basic filter settings. I'll have to get a patch bank or two. |

I just tried to load his free soundbank Cobalt Ultramarine http://www.julianraymusic.com/sounds/sources/Cobalt_Ultramar ine_by_Julian_Ray.zip And I don't see any patches added. There are patches by Julian Ray but only 12 and on a subsequent try to import Studio One crashed |

So we did this for Julian banks, and will do the same for any quality soundbanks if we're asked to, but maybe the free demo subset he created was not processed and therefore cant load in the player version. Thats my guess. If julian send us the demo soundset we'll process it for him. for free of course. ---- www.lelotusbleu.fr Soundbanks for Vsti 5000+ Instruments for 23 Vstis, 8 Sound Designers, Hours of audio Demos. can you list the soundbanks that you have processed so I basically have a shopping list of usable soundbanks? It would be handy to have available on the Player product page BTW |

iirc : our 2 Analog Bags, Simon's Sounds Divine bank, and Julian Ray's soundbank. Another one will probably be out in around one month. ( Classic/Vintage instruments ) All in all I think its a bit less than a thousand new instruments wich can feed the PKBII player. The soundbanks were mentioned in our newsletter, and we always give full support to 3rd party soundsets/ But you're right, we'll probably do a reminder in one of the next newsletters, wich I hope will be appreciated by both our users and our 3rd party friends. Then 3rd party vendors might also mention it on their site : The only risk for them is to sell more, as the Player is quite spread now ---- www.lelotusbleu.fr Soundbanks for Vsti 5000+ Instruments for 23 Vstis, 8 Sound Designers, Hours of audio Demos. EDIT: I just saw this: 500 presets for PolyKB II / Player so I have my answer http://www.julianraymusic.com/sounds/polykb.asp I think it would be great to mention these on the product page, give Xils and the 3rd parties a chance to sell the banks with the player. Just knowing what banks are available/compatible also would likely boost sales of both player and banks. |

Thanks for the idea

Don't know if that was mentioned before, but what's the difference between the PolyKB II player and the PolyKB II player CM when it comes to the ability to play PolyKB patches? ---- This and that. |

PolyKB II palyer CM edition has only 4 assignable slots, and you can't activate or deactivate the effects. Furthermore, which is the more important, you can't load new banks, so don't have access to over the 1000 patches already available. Otherwise, the internal audio engine is exactly the same. I have XILS 3 LE and love it. Very organic and good sounding although maybe a bit limited range, but same can be said for a lot of synths.
Don't use it much however as occasionally it will forget the settings when reopening the project which makes it virtually unusable to make songs with. (I think the only synth I have that does that) |

Yikes! I haven't seen that, but will be sure to freeze tracks before closing projects that use it. What host are you on? BTW I usually save off whatever patches I find useful in any synth in my DAW's native format (Studio One in my case) maybe that would help? |

Don't use it much however as occasionally it will forget the settings when reopening the project which makes it virtually unusable to make songs with. (I think the only synth I have that does that) That's definitively a bug previous releases got. I think the last version is now correctly saving projects. Anyway, all the informations are recorded in the projects, but the XILS 3 is checking all the parameters to never crash (that way you never lose your project, only the XILS 3 patch). This check sometime fails for particular parameters and this must be fixed. I have double check it for the last release, but maybe I missed one (there are hundred of parameters). So if the issue still there, I would be glad if you can send me the project which doesn't open (removing all the part not needing as audio sample or other synths). You can do it, contacting us through our contact web page or through our forum Thanks in advance. Best regards Xavier |
