I like the ambient-techno style of this track. It's enjoyable. The only thing that needs more work is filter cutoff synchronisation on chords starting at 1:50. Nonetheless, nice track. Thanks for the feedback. I'm actually glad you caught the sync issue. I thought I could get away with that one! Even though you are not eligable to vote yet, keep participating in the forums and OSC! It's a lot of fun! |

What a contest this month! There were lots of great tracks out there!
Here's my votes: 5 Points - Adagiocm - "Vectorial Elation" Absolutely beautiful and powerful! I feel like I'm running on the beach in slow motion! Superb use of Augur, with every patch crafted perfectly, including an amazing choir patch. The composition and arrangement were excellent. I would love to hear this piece recorded with your own choice of synths. The only thing I would change is the sequencing on the melody from the bell pad. It's a little stiff, perhaps from quantization. You might try recording a part like that manually and see if it makes a difference. But, above all, the best part was it's emotional response. My first reaction was to crank it up! My next reaction was feeling an actual chill go down my spine, a very rare occurance in my music listening, so you're in good company with Bedřich Smetana's "The Moldau" (I'm listening to it now- still works!) 4 Points - IrionDaRonin - "Crystaline Waters" Thank you for taking us on a mysterious journey! Your piece has some of the best synthesis in the contest, with gorgeous, rich timbres that are as original and alien as they are beautiful. The composition has a lot of emotional energy flowing out of it. You create an imaginary world to lose ourselves in. 3 Points - Zi90 - "Seafoo" Sounds evoking Dubstep and heavy beats are no easy feat on Augur! Many might make the attempt only to produce wheesy casiotone sounds, but you've created a pallete of sounds that are all abstract and unconventional, conveying your plastic, industrial world. It's all put together in a big, fat, tight mix. Keep being creative and original. It sounds great! 2 Points - DocJohn - "The Lonely Journey Home" Excellent Synthesis! The string lead is sweet, the guitar is realistic, and all your sounds are solid. You match up with a retro style and keep it fresh sounding. I love how it all moves from slow drama to all-out fun techno! Great for driving! 1 Point - Photonic - "Levitation" Again, solid, colorful synthesis, which we can always expect from Photonic, beautiful lushness. Excellent composition with a lot of movement and changes. Some of the sequencing sounded just a little off on the quantization. If it were a little smoother, I would have given it more points. Honorable Mentions to: Cactoos, Jackoo, Bzur, and Skyzone! |

Wow... Thank you Pulse Width Modulation! Fantastic feedback, and it's wonderful to hear that it evoked such an emotional response. Yes, when I have a bit more time let me try re-recording it perhaps with some parts changed to other synths, and without quantizing the bell pad.
On my part, I'm still agonizing over how to vote. So many great tracks this month!! |

Leads and pads are normaly as I played them. I want to keep the human feeling. But maybe, I am not exact on the beat sometimes cheers, Photonic ---- soundcloud.com/photonic-1 |

Congrats to all the tracks this month! There are again some great entries.
Here are my favorits: 5-points: Pulse Width Modulation - Breaking the Bounds of Earth As soon as I heard the intro I knew, that this track will get points. And with every change in the song, the points raised. Wonderfull sound design, ambient feeling and good mastering. 4-points: Irion Da Ronin - Crystalline Waters There is no need to name the artist. Just listen to the track, and you know. Again I could close my eyes and lift off. With more changes and more varied sounds, it would be top of my list. 3-points: SuperNoise - Nostalgia How did you made this bass sound? That is great sound design! I like the feeling of your lead at the end very much. Good job! 2-points: Doc Jon - The Long Journey Home Very nice intro! Followed by a typical synth pop theme from the 80ies. I like the FX a lot, very playful. 1-point: bzur - I have no clue Beautifull chord progression at the beginn and nice leads. But after the middle of the song I have the feeling to hear different songs. The parts do not fit perfectly for me. This costs some points! Good luck to you all, Photonic ---- soundcloud.com/photonic-1 |

So many excellent tracks, so few votes... After some contemplation and listening several more times, here it goes:
Irion Da Ronin - Crystalline Waters : 5 points Awesome mood created. Great sounds, just the right amount of reverb, great mix. Photonic - Levitation : 4 points Excellent chord progression, melody, sounds. Reminds me of some of the best songs by Vangelis and Enya. One of the more moving entries this month. Yeager - No Room for Space : 3 points Great energy! Excellent rhythm, nice fx, nice mix. Pulse Width Modulation - Breaking the Bounds of Earth : 2 points Great mood created, great sounds, excellent mix/mastering. Skyzone - Augur Goes Slower : 1 point Excellent melody/counterpoint, great sounds. Could be a great suspense theme. If I could give more points, I would have given them as follows: R0z - The Augural Automatons. Raw, mechanical, yet very charming. I can picture the little automatons on the cover image dancing to this tune. Jackoo - Banjo Schizophrenia. By far the most creative and charming entry. Doc Jon - The Long Journey Home. Nice 80's style synth pop. Great intro, nice FX and lead sounds. Bzur - I Have No Clue. Some excellent pads and leads, great mix/mastering/level control as would be expected from Bzur. I thought some parts didn't quite fit well together though. Still, a great song overall. Cactoos - Edification. Fantastic intro, great guitar-style lead. Unfortunately I thought the syncopated percussion in the mid-section detracted from the overall mood of the song, and the mid-section was a bit too long and repetitive. Nevertheless, great entry. SuperNoise - Nostalgia. Nice sounds, nice rhythm and melodies. I enjoyed all the other entries as well. What an excellent month overall, and great job everyone! |

Hi AirDuern, thank you for your vote. But I have a quick procedural comment. I don't remember seeing your name among the contributors this month, and it seems that this is your first post at the KVR forum. I believe you need to have at least 20 posts prior to the beginning of the voting period to qualify to vote. Yes you are correct, votes can unfortunately not be counted for that reason. What an akward rule... I think I'm not gonna be able to vote before a very long time, 'cause when I don't have anything to say, I don't post... Too bad. ---- Signature blocked until 5 posts made |

The rule is to prevent buddies 'helping out' to win prizes, but will of course hurt legitimate voting at the same time. As we've seen instances of the first before it's better to have the rule and help the right songs, I'm sure you understand. |
