I use the Apogee Jam with JamUp Pro and get pristine audio....I am actually using it to record tracks for my next album....worth a try.

iRig is a piece of crap, as is the AmpKit one that uses the headphone jack. Buy an Apogee JAM or L6 MobileIn, and be happy. I use AmpKit+ and JamUp Pro, and they're both awesome. I'm also looking forward to the Amplitube update, because I really dig the clean and mid gain tones there. The nice thing about iOS amp modelers is that they're all cheap. More crayons in the box!

I'm trying to do everything straight from the iPad. I'm exporting clean guitar audio phrases from Garageband into Ampkit, and processing them there, and then returning them back into Garageband. I'm not doing realtime processing, and Ampkit allows for this (along with importing the backing track so that you can hear the guitar in the correct context).

Tech 21 Liverpool just works better, with less hassle, than any IOS solution I've tried. Power it with a 9 volt, and it adds only a tiny bit of hassle to the Ipad recording chain.

Ampkit. I find JamUp has too high latency to use without it being annoying.

Latency? I've never experienced any....what device are you using? I use it on iPod touch 3rd & 4th gen along with a 3rd gen iPad.

iRig has been quiet enough for over a million people to use, including some of your (possible) favorite guitar players. If not, then probably your favorite guitar players favorite guitar player.

Personally I LOVE AmpliTube Fender, it will forever be my favorite releases. Always reminds me of my uncles personal Fender collection. All that Fender tone in my pocket? Yup. Smile

3rd gen iPod touch. It had noticeable latency when I tried it, higher than ampkit.

Congrats. I'm glad you like your own product. However it's noisy as hell with higher gain amps in both Ampkit and GarageBand. Sorry, but that's a fact.

EDIT

I suppose it's not a fact, but it's an opinion many people share, that's for damn sure.

The iRig setup with the built-in guitar amps didn't blow me away. That's not to say that the Guitar Amp section of GarageBand is lacking -- it's not. I just need a better input, I think. GarageBand inputs have a noise gate, but the noise bed on the iRig was high enough that the cuts in and out were too abrupt to be useful. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what I can do with Apogee's Jam guitar interface when it comes out.

I bought this iRig to specifically work with my iPad2 and garageband. What a disappointment!
The unit works but generates lots of noise. I think it is because it is an analog device that uses the headphones input.
I have returned the uit the same day and am now going order the digital Apogee.

Just sayin' Wink

Not everyone shares that opinion, but if you think iRig is too noisy then you are going to love iRig STOMP's improved circuitry.

Not everyone shares any opinion, but I bet a lot of people do agree.
The iRig is noisy. Most guitarists in their bedrooms probably can't tell though.
Just as many people are satisfied with the quality of mp3's.

Not I.

Does it go through the dock connector? If not, then no, I won't love it. I don't get why you guys refuse to come out with dock connecting devices outside of the MIDI. It's just going to sound better, as it evidenced by the JAM and MobileIn.

You keep touting Android compatibility like it matters. Sadly, until Google fixes the latency, it doesn't matter.
