just curious, what else do you guys do besides music? what sex are you? hobbies? interests? jobs? family? does it inspire your music? are you trying to go pro:
i'll start: i am a guy, 2 kids, working on a masters in public health, I run a syringe exchange/HIV prevention program for high risk individuals in Los Angeles, I like to do music, art, tweak on my computer, and work on my huge garden and build things. the kids and my job always inspire my music. not trying to go pro (already spent 20 years of my life as a touring/recording musician). I'm 47 and like pop, psych, shoegaze, hip hop, various forms of electronic music and jazz. anything with interesting sounds and/or melodies. not big on mainstream stuff, but like old 60's and 70's pop. wow, that looks like an application on an internet dating site. but I'm curious about the type of people here at KVR. ---- macbook 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo, 4 gigs ram, 250GB HD, Logic Studio 9 my blog and some music: http://rabbitearsmotel.wordpress.com/ |

I'm 28, live alone in an apartment, and I work in the IT department at a nuclear power plant. Other than music, I enjoy books, computer games (RPG's mostly), tweaking my computer and anything related to technology in general.
I mainly listen to harder electronic music, especially EBM, electro-industrial, industrial etc, but also synthiepop, some ambient, and even rock/metal sometimes. It was the clip about making music on the VNV Nation PastPerfect DVD that inspired me to try making electronic music on my own. For me, the music and my private and professional life are completely unrelated. When making music, I don't want to think about other things going on in life. I enjoy tweaking synths and creating sounds more than actually composing, arranging and mixing.. but that's OK since it's just a hobby for me. I will occasionally finish a complete song |

more seriously-
im male, i have one son, he lives with his mum, hes 18, we divorced a little over a year ago, he lived with me for about a year until i left manchester to be back home. i live in a two bedroomed house with a cat. music in one form or another is a huge part of my life, if im at home and im not involved in the act of making music, im sat reading (usually about music) while listening to music. occassionally ill watch a dvd, no tv anymore as my licence ran out and im not renewing. outside of my own stuff i occassionally record and mix other acts/artists or do some live mixing. im 38 and listen to most styles of music except manufactured pop type stuff, i prefer music with some sense of purpose beyond making money for simon cowell. i have more cupboards and wardrobe space than i could possibly ever need. i collect figurines from sci fi and horror films, and lego star wars minifigures and lego super hero/villain minifigures. i have tattoos, a pierced nipple. and stupid hair so i usually wear a hat. anything else you need to know just ask i guess. ---- look for the true freak label. do not!feed the vampyr. chemically-enhanced-djinnetically-engineered-bio-divurtisy |

as long as you aren't watching a live broadcast online you can use things like iPlayer and the channel 4 one( which has loads of full old series and stuff) Just make sure its not when that episode is being broadcast Anyways - I've been ill for years so do very little really. not making much electronic noise at the moment but play the piano (grade 2 in a week...) and am doing an Open University maths degree, very slowly (the Open University is a distance learning uni in the UK) Would like the motivation to create some noise and / or get back to having a little go at programming again. May have a go at doing some mash-up type DJ mixes with inappropriate tunes to give a slightly techno feel - my mums "I love the 80's" CD is quite tempting... |

exactly as I had imagined. 4 completely different "types" of people. i am continually fascinated by how we all chat with each other from different corners of the world. interesting. I have lived here in LA for a looong time now and have a history and social relationships with a lot of people in the real world. but no one I know in the real world is as geeky as I am about this stuff (well, a few are), so I turn to the forum(s) to get out that whole obsessive, music geek thing. even in real life with my geek friends, we have to mix it up conversationally. seems weird to spend all of our time talking exclusively about plug-ins and EQ's and such.
here's a strange thought: 2 of my real life friends that I geek out with, are on KVR (for awhile) and I have no idea what their name's are here. at this point, seems weird to ask them. what if they're rude online? ---- macbook 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo, 4 gigs ram, 250GB HD, Logic Studio 9 my blog and some music: http://rabbitearsmotel.wordpress.com/ |

I didn't know there was anything other than kvr/gear I'm 47, living off a settlement and have two cats. Between this money pit of a home, my poor health, a cruel world and the cats I have enough on my plate. I watch too much TV and I am a couch potato. But I'm old and tired. Until very recently kvr/etc/gear provided MUCH entertainment. Fun to have new toys and chat about so many subjects and topics! |

I'm 57, married with one son who is out west with his wife and 2 grandkids.
We have a farm out in what used to be called in the 1850's the Queen's Bush. This is an area surrounding the Georgian Bay region of southwestern ON. Besides music I am usually either in the garage working on a car, or two, or three... ---- Barry The man who survived mustard gas and pepper spray is now a seasoned veteran http://www.ambientonline.org/ |

I'm 47 too! I think... I was born in 65. You do the math. I'm married (this time for reals!) and we have no kids except for an adult dog that thinks she's a baby and a cat who thinks she's a moody teenager. Somehow it all works. I don't do music, I just buy music gear that looks cool so I can have a room in my house that looks like the bridge of the Jupiter 2. The pain! I'm 42, married, two kids. I work in a corporate in-house video production group. I'm a 3D animator, motion graphics artist, graphic designer, interactive multimedia software developer, live webcaster, videographer, photographer, video editor, audio engineer, and, um... jack of all trades. Bonus trivia: I live just a few exits down the freeway from zerocrossing, but we've never met. Having kids will do that to you! ---- Incomplete list of my gear: Microsoft Windows XP |

I'm from NJ...central, by the beach.
No we don't call it the shore. Only north NJ and NYC people call it that. I live in China been off and on since 04. Haven't been back home since 07 though. I have a wife and a 6 year old boy. I teach English at a college near HK. I like reading books about science. I like looking at a drop of water using a microscope. I like doing art on my computer. I like doing sound design more than anything else. I've traveled a lot to many different places. Drove across the US alone. Lots of camping and being in the woods too. I speak and read Chinese language, almost fluently, after many years of study. I feel I'm too open about things, and wish I could hide my thoughts and emotions better, around other people. I always seek balance in life, but fail at that too. I realize I can never be who I want to be, but only who I am. ...and I don't like that. I'm not satisfied with who I am or anything else. Tis a cause of great sorrow. |
