Hey d00dz I see there are a lot of fathers on here.
Happy father's day! I'm a male. Real name Jason. 39 years old. No kids. Engaged. Live with my fiance, a little over seven years. We just moved from Chicago to Los Angeles. I'm loving it. I've been self employed in the music industry for over ten years. Started a business, sold it. Started up a new business. I'm pretty much music all day every day producing new loop packs or library music for video games and reality shows. I've lived in many different cities and states in the US and never left the country. When I'm not working on music I'm drinking beer, djing, playing video games, watching tv, hanging out at the beach, exploring Los Angeles, riding my bike, and trolling around on the interwebs. I sometimes read metaphysical type eastern philosphy-ish books, psychology, and self help books. Been in library music for only a year now but it's cool. Got a couple tunes placed in the show Portlandia which I like so that was tits and also in Saints Row The Third video game which is also kinda tits so it's motivating me to do more in this line of work. Life was not easy for me. My dad is a vietnam vet and my mom passed away giving birth to me so it made growing up difficult. We were always poor and moving around a lot. Pops was remarried and divorced twice. Got two half sisters. I finally feel like I have stability in my life but it took this long to get it. Trust me , I want much more from life. I'd like to make more money, buy a nice house, and maybe have a kid some day. That is all ha ha ha ---- Music since '86 Last edited by djpuzzle on Sun Jun 17, 2012 11:07 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Hope you can getter bigger in the industry man,
and continue to find enjoyment in making music. Good health! I am 31, I have just started to ride bmx again. But other than that it's just listening to music. I dabble in graphics and conceptual design, lots of dilly-dallying on the net. I'm old enough to have seen the Dave Clark Five (my very first concert). The tickets were $2, $3 and $4. I could barely hear them because of all the teenybopper girls screaming.
I'm an IT guy at a large insurance company, but I get my insurance somewhere else. Got married for the first time about 4.5 years ago to an awesome Chinese lady that's a lot younger than me. She teaches Mandarin Chinese and has a 21 year old daughter that will be starting her 2nd year at MIT in the fall. For the summer, she's an intern at Merck in N.J. Other interests besides music? Martial arts. Studied a lot of them; traditional, sport, combat. Have lots of gold medals from competitions in the USA and China. Rocketry; low, medium and high power...like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHhTypnw5Og I also enjoy reading, taking walks with my wife, watching TV, drinking saki, eating Asian food. Back to music - my favorite instrument is the Mellotron. If you haven't tried my free samples, you should: http://leisureland.us/audio/MellotronSamples/MellotronSample s.htm |

Male, 47, married, no kids.
Have to say that life is sweet at the moment - it's got progressively better and looks like that trend'll continue (hopefully). Born in the North of England, went to med school, hated it, dropped out in 3rd year - went on to train as a nurse and loved it. Never looked back once. Got married, came out to NZ 12 yrs ago for a better lifestyle - which I got in spades. No longer have to work full time, same with the missus. Happily married probably because we have no kids (which was through choice). We built a house up in the mountains about 40 mins outside of Wellington, live on a hectare of beautiful scenery - snow-capped mountains in view over the past few days. because there's no kids, we regularly escape for a day or two in the city, book a hotel, do the city thing then return to blissful peace and quiet in the mountains. Musicwise - did records years ago and TBH hated the whole process so I do it only for my own pleasure for years now. Still got a decent h/w set up but find myself making less and less music, probably because life is so good elsewhere that i just don't have time to coup myself up in the studio. Musical tastes vary. Mostly electronic, and have been more into reggae and dub type stuff for a few years, but every now and then return to straight techno type stuff. Keep meaning to learn the piano properly but deep down know that I won't ever actually do it. Health service being stuffed up by a right wing government here at present (same old same old and been through it before). But if and when it gets beyond a certain point, then we'll both up sticks and move to Aussie and get some better sun. I've got a hankering to live in the tropics for a while and it seems like the Aussies generally don't like it up the top end, so there's jobs galore there (they can keep Sydney - hated it there). Or maybe Adelaide or Sunshine Coast in Queensland - we can afford to live close to somewhere like Noosa which has a pretty stunning climate, great restaurants and beaches forever. When I was young I thought getting old was a bad thing. But life gets better and better the older I get. Maybe I don't make that much music now because I simply don't have the angst any more. I never really thought life would be this good. It's better... ![]() |

Curious...what makes you say that? Oh...I'm 47 too...or is that 48. 65' I forget my age...how sad. Not to hijack, but I've mostly just lost interest. I'm really not doing well and gear/chat used to help make up for it, it's not anymore. Empty. Nothing against kvr, that certainly isn't the problem. I rarely play with my toys anymore (other than playing guitar, I do a reasonable amount of that) the rest just collects dust. Anyways, it is what it is. |

Bonus trivia: I live just a few exits down the freeway from zerocrossing, but we've never met. Having kids will do that to you! Heh, well perhaps one day you can get a baby sitter and we can compare each other's eBows. ---- Zerocrossing Media http://www.zerocrossing.net 4th Law of Robotics: When turning evil, display a red indicator light. ~[ ●_● ]~ |

Oh yeah? Exit 11 baby here... what exit? We did call it the "shore" though. Sandy Hook. Mostly because where I live we use the water as a toxic waste dumping place and target for NYC's hospital waste and not swimming. ---- Zerocrossing Media http://www.zerocrossing.net 4th Law of Robotics: When turning evil, display a red indicator light. ~[ ●_● ]~ |

Maybe some depression or similar. Get the empty feeling myself quite often. zerocrossing wrote: Oh yeah? Exit 11 baby here... what exit?
You were the nj turnpike inlander then. I was gsp mm-100 coastliner. Asbury area. If you live by the beach, then you would not call it the shore though. Actually taking 195 west past Jackson, to the turnpike is exit 11...if I remember correctly. Every summer we would be invaded by those who spoke Hobokenese, or Manhattanese. I just turned 57; am married to a kvr member and have four married daughters. I live 25 miles nw of Birmingham, Alabama..oh and we have 3 dogs (2 dachshunds, 1 lab).
My day gig is being a piano tuner /technician. I used to do the bar band thing, but karaoke and dj's have made it tough for old guys to find gigs. I got into computers reading keyboard mag in the 80's, and got my first pc in '87 and had to get a memory upgrade to 32k to run Sequencer Plus Gold. I enjoy riding motorcycles; I have two 98 Honda Shadow ACE's, a 750 and 1100. Don't have a lot of money, but when I got in yesterday from my ride and was quenching my thirst with a bottle of Stella I thought, 'I am blessed'. Also into ashtanga yoga, P90 X (and X2) and love to read. Almost anything. |

Gonna be 45 in just a few hours.
Married for nearly 12 years to the same awesome babe that I've been together with since about 1992, and we have 1 very cool son who just turned 5. We're originally from Michigan. My first degree was in music theory/composition, and I lived as a gigging/session musician (bass, keys, some vocals) for about 14 years. It was never my plan to make a career out of it - I mostly just got the music degree because I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do at the time, so I eventually went back to college, got a BS and MS in aquatic sciences/toxicology. We transplanted to California after I finished school and accepted my current job about 10.5 years ago. I work for a private consulting firm as a fisheries biologist/water quality specialist. My other hobbies include skiing (mostly downhill, some X-country), flyfishing and fly-tying, photography, hiking/camping, and just about anything else that gets me outside and off my ass. |
