As the Japanese government has ordered the nuclear reactors back online, thought maybe this will be the best time to review what I wrote for the Japanese people at the time they were struggling with the pain of losing their beloved ones in the Japan Tsunami and the afterwards the troubles they were through because of the radio activation caused by damaged reactors. I suggest you have a look at the video I made for that tragic event. below I will enclose the passage I wrote for the song 8 months after the Sendai Tsunami. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLd6j7GOKLo "The song Hallelujah (For Japan) is being released 8 months after the heartbreaking tsunami in Japan, and by telling this story we would like to remind the world of those tragic events and to say that our thoughts are still and always will be with the Japanese people. The lyric of the song has been re-written by the incredible Australian poet Lucy Prasad, and it talks about a Japanese child trapped in the rubble with their mother in the cold night after the tsunami and earthquake, one of the many similar stories that will continue to shake and sadden us. We too feel the pain, loneliness and fear a child would have felt in this desperate situation in the bitter cold under the debris. All of your donations regarding the purchase of the song on iTunes will be transferred to Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS) otherwise you may download the song from www.RickTallis.com website and spread the word of love, caring and support for Japanese people. To remember is to care, may we never forget what happened 8 months ago in Japan, Sendai."

Hi Rick
Really excellent singing and a good supporting arrangement as well. The additional lyrics have been written well by Lucy Prasad. Very moving photographs. At first I thought that the song was maybe a touch too long for my taste - although the thoughtful lyrics and music (as well as the photos) kept my attention throughout - but then I checked Leonard Cohen's original version as well as Jeff Buckley's rightly lauded version and those clock in as longer than this. Regarding the topic of the song here at Music Cafe (and the reason for choosing to cover this song), it is clear that you have very good intentions with your aim to raise funds for the Japanese Red Cross Society. Finally, the Youtube version is working fine but I'm not sure that your MP3 is working correctly (it never played on my PC). Well done Rick - great singing and rewritten lyrics, and a moving version of Leonard Cohen's classic. |

Thank you so much for your time and kind comment Doug, you were right the link to the song was corrupted and is now fixed and works like a charm, thanks again for reminding me about the link and highly appreciate your comments.
The fund rising was not very successful as it takes you years to get heard once you are not known at the time but at least I found the chance to serve a community I love most and give them my sincere love and support. I might be doing a memo for 9/11 victims this year or the next year. |
