So now WIndows goes the same sh*t route like Mac OS:
"download" and "USB drive". The future is "app store" - thanks but no thanks. Is it still the crap touch screen panel? Guess I will rather wait for Windows 9 and install WIndows 7 the next weeks. |

I'm sure I'll probably move to Windows 9 when it comes out, but I don't currently have any plans to move to Windows 8 (unless I buy a Windows tablet). I mean, your OS is the think you install the most if something goes haywire. I hate the fact that Apple forces you to go the "app store" route nowadays. The last "physical" medium you can buy is Leopard IIRC, then if you want to go to Snow Leopard, you need to upgrade through the app store. Oh wait, that was first introduced in Snow Leopard - so you need an upgrade yet again, best through USB. How? Go to your Apple retailer, download the thing there, pay a sh'tload of money for "allowed USB media" only, reinstall. Oh, now you want to go to Lion? Sorry pal, but you have to go through the app store only! If Windows goes the same route, and from recent looks it seems to be like that, well funked. I want a physical medium. Big host firms started already to sell their sh*t online only. I can agree to do that with small VST/VSTi and sample content. But what if your backup goes corrupt or lost in a HDD crash (as it happened for me with WL7 DOWNLOAD ONLY). You're out of luck man. This is just stupid. hibidy wrote: @windows 8: Sorry to be a stick in the mud, but so what? I mean, windows 7 is basically perfect Nope. It starts up every day. It does what I ask every day. Same goes for XP. I still use it up until this day, but I will eventually switch to Win7 due to better multicore support, x64 (at least OS wise!), better RAM handling. Else I try to stay the hell away from Win8. I've seen it in action, I tried it myself on mobile phones. It's crap for desktop users. But then again, it was advertised just for that in the first place.
I guess there is a reason why most hosts and OS's at odd numbers are the best. with the exception of Windows 98SE and win2000. |

Not much has changed since my last ban plus personal exile.
The same dickheads are still talking shite about stuff they don't have and don't know nothing about. Win 8 is fine for running all kinds of apps on including pro music software like Maschine, Arturia Spark, Studio One Pro, Sylenth, Nexus , Ozone 5 etc etc Whats with all the misinformation and scare mongering. Its not just for touch screen and its as good or better than Win 7. Do your own research and testing before posting or are some of you still trying to be moderators and get your post count up. How ignorant are some of you sheep? |

The question, what kind of ignorant person are you?
I don't say that Windows 8 might not be suitable for audio tools, but I don't like the GUI. From the tests I did, you still have the "quicklauncher" or "touchpanel" interface right from the start. You can(!) get rid of it with hacks and setting that thing up with proper tools - but right out of the box it's a major turn off. On top of it, who of the music firms already provides proper drivers? They will come over time, and will introduce all kinds of new problems alltogether. Call me a dickhead that is talking shite - but you're by far in no way no better. Maybe the ban and exile is adjusted? This is not a board about operating systems with all bells and whistles after all. |

buy a download, then stick it onto your own disc, pay extra for them to send you the disc, pay even more for a box. All options catered for. or the Linux option - bittorrent and checksum... |

This post is not just about you Compyfox. If you tried it on your desktop you would realise how good it really is. Loads super fast . All the programs mentioned installed without drama so I have no idea why you would say otherwise. Its nice to get a point across but too many people on this forum have very little idea and they are the same losers that post on every thread without any real world or product knowledge. So stop speculating and the rest know who they are. F..k lets have a picture of a cat. Very childish. |

Not the same as a pressed version. And yes, I know both sides of the medal of a pressed disk, and the longlivety of storage medias. randyandyvandaman wrote: If you tried it on your desktop you would realise how good it really is. So did all programs while I migrated from Win98/2000 to XP. What's your point? I mentioned drivers - and I'm not talking about "compatibility mode" - which I expect(!) out of the box for an OS. Oh wait... lucky us, we're talking about Windows and not Macintosh. randyandyvandaman wrote: So stop speculating and the rest know who they are. And you could please stop calling others losers. If you're happy with Win8 - use it. I am not so far, so I'm hesitating. Point coming across now? No? Well sucks to be you then. |
