hey there,
Ive been recently trying to make this acid bass sound that is present from the beginning of this youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQ0Ir8ySVVo ive came close by using a square wave into a lp filter and cranking the res abit, then adding a slightly delayed attack to give it that little rise at the start. and short decay to give it a stabby sound. it sounded nout like this sound really how would you guys go about making this sound... am i going in the right direction... hope you guys can help me out. cheers, Kris |

It's realy like subtractive square.
But I think it is FM. Use a FM synth. The frequency ratio maybe 1:2 (modulator : carrier). Set the carrier's ENV fast atack, and then set the modulator's ENV slow attack. |

Now I tried but failed I tried some subtractive synth too. I know this sound. It's very classic and standard. But I can't recreate it with plugin synth. Juno-106 with chorus + highpass? |

ahh just tried the it with fm 8 had a fidle around and although the aspects are similar its still not right.
i actually have a juno - 106 beside me and that was my first port of call to get this sound, i have been messing around with it allll day and it seems to get to a point where i cant get any closer and there is still something not right the sound in the video seems alot cleaner. maybe a real 303... i still believe it could be a plugin though as it has that clean sound. the 106 sounds to fat. fm8 came the closest in tersm of tone however im pritty much a novice on fm and i cant seeem to shape it right. |

Shaping FM Haven't used FM in a long time but VOPM was my weapon of choice. |
