Thanks, there does seem to be something different going on between renvox and rencomp. I noticed that the renchannel has those two as options for the compressor section. The channel doesn't have the other electro/opto and warm/smooth options like the Renaissance Compressor. I assume it's electro/smooth (sounds like shaving lotion) on the rcomp setting.

I've wanted the rchannel since it came out and I think this is the first time it's been on sale. For a long time it wasn't even available separately. So, it's on my short list right now at about $44. I already have renaxx, which can do some nice things as you mentioned, but I may just wait and go for the whole bundle at some point.

Interesting. I don't use RChannel much, mostly because I just tend to not use channel strips, and the GUI is too small and fiddly now. But now that I think about it, it is a pretty convenient way to get these 3 plug-ins in a chain. And it offers greater control of the input EQ sidechain, which you won't find on the separate plugs. Well worth $44!

After buying various Waves Plugins over the last year I finally got the SSL bundle - fantastic. Been around for a while now but still very good in my book.

You really should not reveal that - then it never comes on sale WinkVery Happy

...sshh it's a secret but I did get a deal by going to a direct dealer ^^

Seriously I avoided buying SSL for years and have bought other alternatives....should've bitten the bullet years ago and bought it straight out actually very good value for money imho.

Saying that MPX is great but I prefer VTM and Roundtone is developing nicely. I do use the one knob series when messing around in Maschine.

...life goes on and whilst i tried to stay away from the waves and drifting off with other alternatives, but the current was too strong and whirlpooled out of controlafter buying Renaissance bundle.

At first glance it's overlap. An EQ or E- or G-channelstrip with Master-buscompressor.

Do you need anything more than either E- or G-channel?
Either of those for $199 and I would probably go for it.

Too much overlap with the full bundle and paying a lot to get just a channelstrip. But I haven't tested so I might miss something.

I will test what NLS does first regarding emulating consoles.

Regarding EQ I found HLS adding real sparkle to vocals(and probably anything). You can run mids up like crazy and it just gets nicer.

And other from the Kramer TTT like PIE compressor, CLA 2A,CLA 76 and RenComp. Not to mention C1 and C4.

You can make pretty good channelstrips from those in combinations.

L2 for master buss limiting.

I'm not even sure I need anything. Mostly curious, really.Smile

z-noise. It's not the greatest but it does realtime noise removal where there is no fingerprint available and can actually tighten up a lot of material that would otherwise be useless.

I think that all the SSL series (EQ, comp, channel) did some wonders for me.

Concerning the final sound of my guitars, those plugins were certainly the magic factor that turned the "sterile" sounds emmitting from my soft amps into something I was hoping to achieve for long time now. The compression, the character, very good job. Different tones from the same amplification setups is something that we couldn't easily imagine in the digital field, few years ago.

@SSL/overlap/etc: Oh, they were great. I'd have jumped on it for certain had it not been for the weird bugs/annoyances and the fact the waves hasn't tested with reaper, therefor doesn't "support" reaper.

This is no doubt not a new thought or comment, but it sure seems like I hear about more plug-ins that don't work right in Reaper than maybe all the other hosts combined.

I've seen your comments a couple of times about problems in Reaper.

Could please extend on what problems those are?

I have not encountered anything yet that does not work, but with Tune. About 50 Waves plugs(a handful not used yet).

Tune has a minor thingy since rewire does not connect, so changing position from within Tune does not change main position pointer in Reaper, but everything works perfectly apart from that.

But I have not used any sidechaining or more advanced stuff yet.

But I'm all with you on the problematic situation with hiding behind not supporting Reaper. I thought I would pause further purchase but I folded on that one since I found it working well - all of it.

Could please remind us what those might be?
I'm saying there is nothing to that - proove me wrong!

I only had that jBridge worked better for a couple of plugins(synths) for bridging x86 plugins in Reaper x64.

Could it be that kind of malfunction?

I could mention I had major issues with Sonar crashing if inserting certain Waves plugins. If selecting a mono plugin on a track set for stereo was one situation - plop and gone.

Midi on audio plugins does not work in Sonar at all. Mentioned even in the list from Waves on a number of plugins. That works just nicely in Reaper.

Tune does not work at all in Sonar, but nicely in Reaper.(stated in Waves chart as well).

Overall Reaper is the most stable daw I came across, and one reason that is my main daw.(compared to Studio One v2 trial, Sonar 4 8.5, X1 Trial, nTrack, Tracktion, Cubase trial never got a license down to try it out, just didn't work)

No problems here in REAPER. CLA Bundle Compressors, H-EQ, C6, Kramer Master Tape and V-Series. I use them every single day.

Cla bundle, Api bundle, Vocal rider and Kramer Pie are good plugins, but I could do without them.
