I'm looking for a program which would:
- load as vsti - host vst and vsti - would let me control hosted plugins parameters with midi cc options i checked: chainer - it does exactly what I'm looking for, but it doesn't work, output is silence, if I load a plug into it. From what I read, elsewhere on the forum, it's not being developed anymore and it has such problems with certain plugins. metaplugin - would be perfect, but I can't figure out, if it is possible to control it over midi. bloxpander - didn't try it, too expensive, too much for my needs. vstboard - it's beta and really too complicated, I'm looking for something simple and reliable. I'm a little out of steam. I'd appreciate some tips. |

You forgot XT-Software eXT (I'm trying to get rid of my license, PM me if interested), which can work as standalone host and you can grab a (windows only) VST/VSTi version.
Then there's Plogue Bidule. And yes, MetaPlugin can be used to control plugins through MIDI, but I don't know if it's working as VSTi. Only used it for plugins (FX) so far. |

Thanks, I will demo eXT, I didn't consider it on 'this is too much' basis, but I didn't try it.
How do you midi-control metaplugin in fx mode? |

Thanks. VSTforks agreement states that I "can't use it in music production". So I have mixed feelings about it. I did sign up, but in the end I didn't install it.
After some more digging, I found Mux beta - it does what I was looking for in easy and intuitive way, so case closed. |

A demo should say more than thousand words. Don't know if there is one though. Should you go for it and want to save a buck or two, hit me up. Zombie Queen wrote: How do you midi-control metaplugin in fx mode? Since I'm using Cubase, I don't know if and how it works for you. I also haven't done this yet, but to my knowledge (and with other MIDI input capable VST plugins), it should shop up in the routing matrix. Meaning, if I have METAPLUGIN running, I can route a MIDI track's output channel to METAPLUGIN. In METAPLUGIN itself, you need to use plugins with MIDI inputs of course, then connect the wires as you need, done. I should finally ditch the demo in favor for the full version. Apparently, it is running better on my rig than everything else I've used before. And it's way more straight forward, more often maintenanced, future proof, etc. I only need it for flexible VST routing anyway. But I need funds first. |

It's on their site. "Will run in demo mode until registered". Demoed, I will pass on this. Compyfox wrote: Meaning, if I have METAPLUGIN running, I can route a MIDI track's output channel to METAPLUGIN.
That I can I do (only in instrument mode, but I can load effect as instrument), but I don't see any info on how to assign a CC to metaplugin parameter. And I can see no indication on predefined mapping in the manual. |

I think the MIDI CC are declared by the plugin you're using.
I guess you have to contact the developer or do some trial and error in this case. |

That way exactly what I was trying to walk around. To override declared (or take control of not declared) controllers, by CC of my choice. So for example I could remap modwheel to any controller, or control anything by external lfo. MUX does that. |

Console. Windows-only. Not updated in ages. Looks like Reaktor modular building environment. I've used it for basic MIDI routing.
