that's not true in this case hibidy. I know both platforms well, and i did not intend it to be a mac vs window thing at ALL. I have cursed the mac zillions of times mate. it's just that i think the windows release of REASON is alot buggier than the mac one this time around as all the bugs that have been bad have seemed to only affect windows users this time in props forums and here so by another windows bug i meant "another one that doesn't seem to affect the mac version of reason for some um, reason" studio one on windows is TEN times better than the mac version, and then some, just to show some contrast. No comparison, with performance, or stability.. the windows version blows it. so no i am not a mac vs windows guy at all, i honestly say which program runs better on which platform, always have ---- Please call me Theo. |

Actually, I usually find cross platform stuff worse on Mac (Cubase, Carrara, Modo, etc). I've had no trouble with Reason yet (except needing to close and reopen if I change control surfaces). But I will say that Windows is more convoluted (registry, file system layout/paths, i/o behavior, etc), and that's one thing I've been trying to leave behind in my switch.
And yes, anti-piracy features always complicate a product. Always. Reason 6 takes way longer to start than v5, abs half of that is the license validation. |

I guess that specific condition was isolated to a user or two. I've not had any version of Reason crash. Ever. ---- -="I beat the Internet...the end guy is hard"=- |

actually in ten years of using reason almost every day, i've never had any crash at all. But for me all this "rock solid" thing is not important (well, under specific conditions, of course |

I've been very happy with Reason 6.5. I've run into some bugs/limitations with their Remote SDK but I don't think that's something a typical user would encounter.
I've been pushing Reason really hard for the last 2 years and I've never seen it crash. |

You're probably right. I think I only saw one single person on their forum with any problems at all. I guess it might have been two people... Then again PH must have been able to reproduce the various bugs and crashes .... Quote: I've not had any version of Reason crash. Ever.
In that case I don't know why they are bothering with all this bug fixing |

There is a bug where browsing presets within a combinator is causing the sound to mute. It seems to be affecting both mac and windows users link here (only available to registered users as it's a link to the users forum)

Hmm, that's quite a nasty one, and confirmed by several users, both on PC and on Mac.
One that hopefully they will fix in 6.5.2 whenever. Let's get real here for a moment - Reason has bugs and crashes like any other software, and whenever there is a new release there are always issues. I remember back as far as 2.5 that the initial release is nearly always followed one to three months later by (usually a single) bug fix release. This time is going to take more than one bug fix to deal with the issues people have reported and are reporting. And that's no different to most other software. The only real difference with that with PH they make high claims for stability, backed up by obvious fanboys who go on about how it has never ever had a bug/crash. So long as PH make those claims then customer expectations are going to be set too high, and some will get seriously disappointed. It's their own fault for all the BS they come out with. But I hope for the sake of their customer that they get this one fixed asap. |
