So here's what's happening:
I'm loading an older track of mine I made on Cubase 5, it's telling me one of my synth plugins is missing, and when I manually load the synth plugin on the instrument track, the settings from before aren't loaded and it just plays the default sound. Here's why I think this is happening: The synth it's having problems with is VST3. Looking at the date of this track, it's very possible that the VST3 version hadn't come out yet (or I just hadn't bothered to install it yet), and I made the sound with the VST2 version, which from what I can tell is no longer installed. This is my guess, I don't know for sure. My question is, is there anything I can do about this? When it detects that the plugin is missing, it just gives me an error message, but it doesn't give me any options to locate the missing plugin or anything. I never saved a preset, since the settings are usually saved in the Cubase file. Is my best bet to install the VST2 version as well (I don't want to do this, since my studio computer isn't connected to the internet and doing installs/registrations is always a huge pain)? Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance! |

I think installing the VST2 version and exporting your preset for importing in the VST3 one is your only option. Since the VST3 is already installed maybe you won't need to reregister. Or you could run the VST2 as a demo?... |

Oh thanks for that, I never even thought of running the VST as a demo just to save the preset. Will give it a shot later, thank you! |
