So, I took a break from making music. For two-three years.
I hate to make a "what's the best freeware" thread amongst the thousands that exist but I'm looking particularly for what's been going on during this time, not just in freeware releases/updates but also any interesting background to them, from what devs have become popular or any awesome KvR drama/memes to catch up on. Just about everything since DC 2009. SmartElectronix? Krakli? Christian Budde? Are these folks still around? - Charse. |

You guys are awesome. It's good to know Ugo is still at it, and it's cool for U-he to release so many good freebies.
Thanks for Sonigen, I've been looking for a full-modular to recommend non-Reaktor folk ever since Karmafx Synth went commercial. What about the really niche out-there stuff? Is Xoxos still making physical modelling stuff? Did Wave Terrain or Scanned synthesis ever make it past the fringe? |

Scanned synth pro is pay-what-you-want.
Not technically free, and I payed $25 twice (got it, fell in love, payed more) but it is amazing, and I am astounded that more synths of this nature haven't become popular. This thing is definitely the secret weapon for more than a few people out there. Also, you need SQ8l. ---- I run a netlabel http://oligopolistrecords.bandcamp.com Free chill, hip-hop, lo-fi, ambient, experimental, for you! (Send me demos too!) |

Take a look at this. Odo was missed in action from long time, i think years and years. Someone wanted to find and share the whole Odo collection. Then Odo appeared miraculously and said it was fine with him. And there you go. The whole collection. Priceless. Have a good day |

Last I heard Sonigen will be commercial once it's out of beta, think a figure of ~£90 was mentioned. IrionDaRonin wrote: Dune BE Great synth and easy to use.
This is the one that throws me, a real market changer. I mean, if this is given away for free then how do you 'value' all the other freebies/cheapies? ---- ()_() (O.o) (")(") |
