When I was a "kid" I didn't know what MIDI was either Confused And to be honest I still don't know exactly what it does though it mostly works for me. Troll or not, I hope you did give the guy a good explanation

This! When I was a child, there wasn't even anything like MIDI yet...

And if you would ask foreign people on the streets, I bet that most will say that MIDI can be played simply by your audio player.

Only most of the musicians would know that it's just some kind of text-file.

dont get me wrong though, theres nothing wrong with being arrogant if you have busted your ass learning your craft, be it a doctor, physicist, lawer, or producer. but lets stay humble about the fact that we all had to start somewhere.

Sure, we all have/had to start somewhere. But I can feel with the OP, when starting out, one really should begin with gathering some information for themselves. What do I want to do, how is it achieved etc. Sure, a noob question is inevitable, but come on, there's google and a ton of information that wasn't there when you and I started. And let's face it, back then you also had to figure out much for yourself.
To make it clear, I don't mind helping someone out if at least they have been thinking for themselves. But sometimes you get "I pressed a button, and I didn't get a dope beat! Nothing! No phatness! Just silence! Help me! You don't help me good enough! You suck!" Very Happy
