Kind of a "whats your fav" question:

What is your "go to" VSTi for basslines? Especially on a Mac?

I realize that there's going to be a follow up to this in the form of "depends on the style of music", so ill just say Electronic/Techno.

+1. That's one of my main go-tos for synth basses. The others are Tone2 Saurus and Synapse Audio DUNE. But, honestly, any decent subtractive synth with saw and square waveforms plus a sine or triangle waveform for the sub-bass can easily get the job done.

Spectrasonics Trilian - it sounds amazing and has all bases covered (no pun!)

If I didnt have Trilian I'd probably look toward Rob Papen Sub-Boom-Bass if I were specifically looking for a bass instrument

** edit **

but as mentioned any synth or sampler can do bass

I use Trilian and U-he DIVA, ACE for bass
Trilian doesnt have ACE or DIVA sampled so I need all those.

Trilian is perfect if you want lots of bass guitar, acustic bass sounds and sampled minimoog synth bass + they are already set up with effects.

Massive and Predator usually do the job. (But I haven't even explored the ones in Omnisphere)

Massive*, good low end, and the ability to let an osc bypass the filters can help in giving a more well rounded tone. Use FAW Circle as well.

*no wobbles used, guaranteed

If you search for Roland emulations (e.g. TB-303) you could check here:
