Loops for the Gashing The Old Mae West where made from Sufi religious records give to Richard Fielding(one of the original members, in a pub for free)and the sound of people dancing on tables amongst other things as well as Bollywood film soundtracks.Tape loops on a stereo recorder were transferred onto a mulitrack tape deck and mixed in and out by hand down to a stereo recorder.Xoxos your first loop is reminiscent of this good job.Tom Ellard is a friend of mine and it goes to show how far ahead(sic) Severed Heads were in there techniques as Mae West was done back in the eighties. ---- www.voltagedisciple.com Patches for ACE,PREDATOR,SYNPLANT,SUB BOOM BASS,PUNCH AALTO,CIRCLE,BLADE and Ableton LIVE Packs http://syikom.wordpress.com/ my blog |

demonstrations of simple techniques :p power of suggestion risome, never thought it wasn't mae west. another guy i can't say anything about without sounding like an ass kisser. could be the only guy i have a cd by with an honestly ..decentralised.. expression of media and art. enjoyed the "recent" am radio page.. |

Thanks for posting. Love vintage style experimentalism.
I've read about the Steve Reich tape setup for "It's Gonna Rain" and "Let the Blood out to Show Them" , (not sure I have those titles correct) but I never really understood how to emulate it. You've done it digitally and i'd be very happy if you could tell me how it's done. I'd love to do a 20 or more min piece using variations of this technique. Thanks. ---- "For many individuals with mental illness, creativity is a valued and central part of their identity." |

soz for not stopping in for a few days and the late bump..
have no idea (never met him despite locale) about reich.. hopefully i'm answering the right question. 'scan' sets a short loop at the end of a sample, with an envelope moving it towards the beginning across the duration of the piece. the sampler i used is in the mod synthesis forum at the mo.. i'm wrapping it up as a freebie, any sampler with non-micro crossfading ought to do |
