It's been a while (real life keeps poking its nose in, as it does...) but here's my latest effort:

http://k006.kiwi6.com/hotlink/2eqi33jg76/TheArchitectsSong.m p3

A bit techno, a bit house, a bit of a struggle to get it done HiHi - it's been rewritten twice, rearranged god knows how many times, but then one day I nudged the tempo up just a couple of BPM and all of a sudden it started coming together. Funny old game innit?

Another track for the album - only two more to go now Smile

As always, all comments welcome - hope you like it Very Happy

EDIT: Oops - almost forgot t'cloud link:

Yup, sometimes a tempo change can make all the difference. Really nice piece Mike, I think you nailed it. The smooth leads and stringy pads are gorgeous, very atmospheric. I like that breakdown with the vocoded voice that goes dissonant at the end. Nice work with the synth bass as well. Thumbs Up!

Thanks Matt, glad you liked it Smile The vocoder I used was Sonic Charge's BitSpeek which is (like any Sonic Charge product) tremendous fun. In fact the only thing I didn't change about this track was my determination to have a vocodered phrase or two somewhere in there Very Happy

I absolutely loved this.

Going back for a third listen now Cool

Was listening to Ozric Tentacles immediately before it, and this could slot straight into that album (Paper Monkeys) without any effort whatsoever.

Great track, Mike. I love that slow build intro followed by the OT-style bits. Lovely synth sounds used on here, and a great drop at 2:35. I listened to this late yesterday and again tonight. Great music to wind-down to. Dreamy sounds.

Good work Smile

Thanks for listening MM, and for the compliments - I'll have to check out that album. My stuff's been compared to the Ozrics before (which is nice praise) but I'm really not that familiar with their music. The only explanation I can think of is shared influences - Gong(Daevid Allen/Steve Hillage era), Hawkwind and Tangerine Dream from the 70s, Detroit Techno and Drum'n'Bass from the 90s...

unless...I influenced them Shocked Shit! Surprised

Thanks Tim - I used my new ACE on this one. Not sussed out enough to get beyond presets yet, but it does make a lovely noise. The main pad comes from UltraAnalog, which is another favourite synth.

Ta for listening Very Happy

hey neil, thanks for listening, glad you enjoyed it. Yup, just two more tracks to go, plus a remix of the opening track, and the album will be finished - and only a year later than planned Laughing

It's a good job I don't do this for a living...

...on the other hand, I'd be very svelte... Very Happy
