Hi,

I've fell in love with this song since I've first heard it, now I'm interested in the sound design of the lead sound, you can hear it @ 1.31 here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlaE2x3vffw . Is it in the processing or the sound design itself? Maybe layered synths?

Thanks!

just a couple of off beat saws detuned for the lead. the mid range notes are played by a piano. You can definitely find the lead sound in the nexus single layer leads. If not it should be pretty simple to make with a regular 2-4 osc synth using saw waves. Not saying this in a negative way or anything (don't want to get into the whole avicii preset argument) but with him his sounds aren't particulary challenging, but he excels in the melodies which is what makes everything sound so good.

So, to get that kind of sound I should stack piano and some saw leads?

Sounds like he used a gate on the detuned saw sound as well.

in his in the studio interview he said he pretty much always leaves the mids of the melody as some kind of piano. and then plays with different sounds for the leads and bass. but ya like i said you should be able to find something similar in nexus if not, playing with 2 saws detuned should get you pretty close.
