Yeah, we know - big claim. Let the flaming begin! Very Happy

(No, please don't. We're nice.)

Those of you who've been following us at http://www.facebook.com/rhythmicrobot have probably already caught the hints that SOMETHING BIG IS COMING. Well, it's time to take the white sheet off the prototype and reveal what we've been working on for the past few months.

Grit Kit (http://www.rhythmicrobot.com/page0/page10/page49/index.html  ) is quite simply intended to be the coolest drum synthesiser ever. It takes real analogue waveforms and runs them through three classic hardware samplers, putting all that crunch and grit so beloved of old-skool producers right at your fingertips. And best of all, there's that big Grit knob right in the middle of the interface, ready to crank up the mojo with a single twist (instead of an hour or so of rewiring and resampling... we did all that for you!)

Grit Kit will be officially launched in a few weeks. If you want to keep ahead of the curve, please friend us on Facebook, or drop us a message via the website's Contact Us page (http://www.rhythmicrobot.com/page17/index.php) with "Grit Kit" as the subject line, and we'll stick you on the mailing list for launch day Cool

So... excited now? Laughing

Keep the beat burning,

The Professor (and Mongo)

Awww, yeah... it's a Kontakt instrument. You have to be part of the cool kids' club to use it, sorry Crying or Very sad

Mind you, if there was ever a reason to splurge the cash on Kontakt, this has to be it! Very Happy

If it's Kontakt it's sample-based, so is it really a synthesizer?

It's a synth! Very Happy

Sure, the waveforms are sampled, but the way you combine them is good old basic synthesis. Multi-mode resonant filters, attack and decay envelopes, noise, dynamics shaping... it's a synth!

Seriously, there's nothing you can do on, say, a Vermona hardware unit that you can't do here. The only difference that Kontakt brings is that the base waveforms are sampled, but they're still acting as oscillators Cool

We should have a YouTube demo up pretty soon, so you can take a look and see if you agree.

Well, the YouTube vid is up! If you'd like to see GritKit in action, take a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQvrZ83Lz80&feature=plcpWe had to rush a bit to cram everything into the 10 minute time limit, but at least you can see what it does Very Happy

Make sure you've got decent monitors or a good pair of headphones on Cool Ooh, and you can also have a good laugh at how preposterously English I'm sounding today!

Best wishes,

The Professor (and Mongo)

Yeah, dunno why the professor put 'for some reason', it's obvious the lack of a fish option will enrage most of the members (ok, well four HiHi).

Listening on laptop speakers but sounding good The Professor! Smile

I simply can't see past the lack of a 'fish' option in the poll, so continue to be utterly enraged to the point of being unable to read any part of the description.

Hurrah! We'll light you some candles here in the lab. Only, not too near the isopropyl alcohol. Not after what happened last time.

We're really regretting not adding a "fish" option now. So very many enraged people... Crying or Very sad
