So it has been quiet about A2 for some time.. I'm very curious about how it is evolving and what we can expect from it!
Alchemy is currently my main and most used synth, so I'm really looking forward to it! |

Buying Alchemy made me pay attention to what I was doing.
I own a lot of gear, (software. I sold all my hardware decades ago) and I am too busy using all of it. But the depth and possibility packed in Alchemy made me aware of the need to master a tool before moving on to something else endelessy. Alchemy is not the only one capable of such possibilities but for me that's the one that did it. I can't even imagine what v2 can bring to the table, beside rumors of my beloved FM synthesis. This is going to be a long journey and v2 is going to be more than I can probably ever master. Awesome synth with a bright future. ---- MuLab 4, Studio One v2. In that order. |

Of course, V2 development is secret, but Andy said that improving sound quality was the main goal. I think that there is not so much to improve for VA (may be more non linear treatment to sound closer to real analog?), but the resynthesis algos can be dramatically improved, especially in additive mode. The quality of (some) samples shipped with V2 should also be concerned, but this is mainly a business issue (good samples are expensive).
There are several other improvements that can be expected, like visual displaying, but this is more an esthetic issue. There are many posts about FM, so we can expect an FM modulator, probably not a full FM engine… One thing should NOT be changed : Alchemy is the most easy to use, and musician friendly synth I've ever used or tested, hard of software… |
