I don't think I've ever been aware of NAMM while it's actually going on before, so this is kind of like my first NAMM.
Man and what a NAMM it's turning out to be. So far we have some real corkers. Korg MS-20 for me is just mind blowing I can't believe they actually went and did it, VCOS and old filter type too! It's an analog classic brought into the modern age. Then there's the Moog Sub Phatty which is not quite as exciting for me but still good though. Some nice looking soft-synths from AIR which look Native, an interesting one from Sonnivox which could be really cool. A new synth on the way from DSI. And it's not even officially started yet. Here's hoping for the Clavia G2 vst When was the last time anything interesting was announce at NAMM anyway? For me it was DSI. I can't think of anything else. It feels like the last 4 years or so has just been more romplers from the big three, a bunch of cheap interfaces and Jorden Rudess playing that some old tired piano piece on the latest greatest 512MB piano keyboard with "super spiritual analog ancestry technology" Look at the Jupiter 80 for example, ugh seriously? I still get excited for these. I think it's just great to find out what sort of amazing new toys are on the horizon. I am definitely going to be purchasing the Korg MS-20 Mini.. I've always been wanting one! Hopefully other synth manufactures offer similar all in on semi-modular mono-synths of similar size and cost! Personally I would love it if someone resurrected ARP so we could get a Arp2600 Mini re-issue too! |

NAMM started today, for me (or Tuesday for many others). I was busy helping get our booth set up.
I didn't get a chance to see much today. zvex had a display with a group of pedals painted to depict some kind of Mayan appocalypse... that was pretty cool. We're right next to the Moog both, so I got to see the Sub Phatty but I didn't get a chance to get close to it. I hope to visit the Analog Haven booth but I don't know if I'll have time. I got to talk to Rob Papen about synths for a few minutes. He's a very nice guy. Oh yeah... the Bitwig guys are sharing a booth with us. |

It's 2:30 in the morning and I just got back from setting up. This is my latest ever. Setting up for NAMM is like taxes - I always swear I'll do it early next year. But I never do. |

I'm guessing this means Panorama is getting full Bitwig Studio support then... or you're releasing a controller dedicated to BS (Bitwig Studio, that is). ---- "Use the talents you possess, for the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except the best." - Henry Van Dyke |

hibidy wrote: Seriously. This NAMM has some amazing stuff, at least when it comes to noise makers like ..... real analogue synths! MS-20, Prophet 12, Sub Phatty, Studio Electronics Boomstar series, Elektron Analog4... Dude! Wake up! It's a freaking analog revival!
