Well, it keeps consuming time over all my other synths! You guys never mention that before people buy it uh. And every time I leave it to use another one, it keeps calling me in my subconscious & because of that I keep coming back to it, all the time. That's alot of time consuming! And like if that was not enough, it keeps surprising me with new amazing sounds every time I think I've explored in depth!

Cool

Seriously, awesome work & support Camel crew and don't give up, I can't wait to see Alchemy 2.

Peace!

This is the truth.
Always something to tweak and fiddle with to create new and exciting sounds.

I think the thing that sets Alchemy apart from other synths in my collection is the ability to build your own sounds from parts. Romplers like Nexus and Omnisphere give you libraries of pre-sampled sound banks that you can tweak all kinds of ways, but Alchemy gives you the ability to build your own sound banks and fundamentally alter the way you actually mix the sounds in a fluid way on top of all the parameters you can set.

I hope that in Version 2, there is a way to have multiple channels the way Omnisphere does it it. Right now I need to start a separate alchemy plug-in for each sound and it would be cool if I could use one plug-in for multiple sounds on multiple channels. Assuming that all saves CPU in the end.

This. I much prefer having a solid V2 version few months later than a half-baked buggy version earlier.

The point that the OP makes is exactly the reason I haven't bought it yet tbh.

I know what'll happen, and I know I won't stop making presets for it HiHi

I have a complaint similar to that of the OP. Alchemy has made me love U-He Diva and Zebra less--formerly by favorite synths. I used to think U-He was the pinnacle of soft synth sumptuousness. But no longer. Alchemy is my BFF.

Seriously, before Alchemy I didn't realize how much I was struggling to understand and control what was happening in Diva and Zebra. I'm a musician, not a sound designer, and there's a limit to how much time I can spend learning the workings of a synth. I like to understand just enough that I can tweak existing patches to behave just the way I want them and have maximum control during performance.

I'm amazed at how deep I've gone with Alchemy in a few months. I'm devouring the manual and find I can create and modify complex modulation schemes that I would never attempt with Diva or Zebra. With Alchemy I can go deep, down to the sound-generating seed. I've even created a few patches from scratch, for special uses. Everything is laid out so logically, following consistent rules, and it's easy to see what's modulating what.

I'm even experimenting with and actually understanding additive and granular synthesis for the first time--I was alway a subtractive synthesis sort of guy (started with the original Buchla). So it's a teaching tool, not just a performance instrument. That's exciting!

To be fair to Diva / Zebra, they both generate beautiful, warm, beefy sounds that I find complement the complex sound of Alchemy perfectly. They have equal status in my setup with Alchemy and are indispensable. I mix them together on the fly during performance and they share the sonic space well. I have great respect and admiration for the engineering skill of the U-he team.

But, back in my studio, every time I go into Diva or Zebra to track down a modulation path or tweak a sound, I get frustrated and exclaim, "Why can't U-he have the same smart UI as Alchemy?" The simulated knobs and sliders in Diva / Zebra are beautiful and exciting--for the first hour. After that I don't care. I just want functionality. Thanks, Camel Audio, for showing the way. I hope U-he copies your example.

Steve
