Twin 2 demo is fully functional for 30 days and can therefore be used freely. If you have used up the demo time from earlier, contact me with your e-mail address and Fabfilter will fix another period for you. |

This is one of the few plugs I've been looking to buy, I'll definitely be participating in this one! |

This thing has some range. o.O
Started working on something and it already sounds like I've got two different acoustic instruments, a handful of synths and.. some birds. color me impressed. |

The main reason of using only free effects is that people are playing in the same level, nobody takes more advantage than others if using commercial stuff. You can use mastering effects. Native from your host or free. But it must be done all in the project, in real time. Not post processing the final waveform or MP3 render. This is the way we always did it. About the percussion. When i came here two years ago i felt the same way. But i have learned too much about percussive synthesis. And the results are priceless. You should give it a try. Or you can make just an ambient track without percussion. Or you can use the drum presets from the synth (if any, i didn't check yet) Come and participate, please. Have a nice day. |

Making drum sounds can be tricky but this is a challenge like the name says. KVR Music Cafe have monthly competition where there aren't many rules, here it's a bit more tricky. The free effect rule is to keep it fair between the haves and have nots like Irion says.
But finally a chance to try that famous Fabfilter GUI properly and so far everything really feels natural (like it did when I tried Pro-C before). The drag-dropping between knobs to set routings is something all plugins should have. |

So.. is sequencing a must for the OSC?
I'm just wondering if I can play each track live and record to audio. Maybe save the presets as proof of one synthyness? I lost a hard drive and upon re-setup decided to give linux another go. Rather than mess with wine I've got a netbook that I could run an instance of the current vst from (but probably not much more) and then record the audio into ardour.. |

Yes that's fine. Normal rules apply to bounces/samples of course.
But how about Linux MultiMedia Studio (LMMS)? It has MIDI and is free. |

LMMS looks good but it didn't install right for me. (said it installed but it's not in the menu and search doesn't find it) I'll probably troubleshoot at some point but for now It's Ardour or Qtractor. I know my way around Ardour but I'm liking the look and feel of qtractor (and it has MIDI).
Either way - limitations are fun. |

Hi there
Are there any restrictions on the use of midi plugins? Specifically, is it ok to use: arp4midi (arpeggiator) kirnu1 (arpeggiator) hypercyclic (sort of arpeggiator) stepbeater (drum sequencer) Contralogic RPS-1 (drum sequencer, provided that I only use midi out to Twin2 and not as a sample player) Thanks BHY |

Yes as long as they are free and easily available, all MIDI plugins are fine to use as I can't see how they could possibly alter the sound outside what the synth can do. |
