EDIT: Alchemy Player v1.55.0 is now officially released:

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5255539

Hi,

We're really pleased to announce the first release candidates for Alchemy and Alchemy Player v1.55.0 are now available to download from your Camel Audio support account.

These builds has been extensively tested in all hosts on Mac and Windows, correcting several bugs found in earlier v1.5 releases. As always, those of you working on important projects are advised to wait for the official release. See below for a list of bug fixes and improvements.

Please post any questions or problems here and we'll do our best to answer as quickly as possible.

Peace,
Andy.

How to update

To update Alchemy or Alchemy Player to v1.55.0 from an existing v1.5 installation it is only necessary to download and run the installer to update the plugin. It is not necessary to download the content again, or uninstall the old version. Your projects will load and sound exactly the same as with previous version.

Downloading

The Alchemy release candidates are found by expanding the Alchemy section in your support account:

  • Alchemy Plugin v1.55.0.3366 - RC 1 (Mac)

  • Alchemy Plugin v1.55.0.3368 - RC 1 (Windows)

Alchemy Player users should click the Mac / Win link to download the latest version:

  • Alchemy Player Plugin v1.55.0.3371P - RC 1 (Mac)

  • Alchemy Player Plugin v1.55.0.3373P - RC 1 (Windows)

Bug Fixes

See the Alchemy and Alchemy Player release notes for the full list of bug fixes and improvements.

Note: the version numbers have been updated to v1.55.0 to avoid confusion with earlier releases. There have been some bug fixes since 1.50.2 and v1.51.0 so please ensure you update now or when the official release takes place.

Hi Andy,

I just installed this new release candidate and it went smoothly.

However, it appeared to have also installed some factory sounds although I had none on the Desktop of my mac. I thought that's the only place the installer would look for new sounds to install. Is this not the case?

After searching, I think it picked up some sound files from inside of the Downloads folder. Is this possible? Is this desireable? I'm not sure if they are very recent files....may have been left there from an older download. Maybe you can tell me. The two files it picked up were:

AlchemyFactoryPresets-1-06-1.CamelSounds
AlchemyFactoryBonusSamples-1-50.CamelSounds

What do you think?

Thanks
Avi

Hi,

The installer looks on the desktop and in the current folder. The "1-06" file contains the old format presets, so it would be a good idea to log in and use the "Download All Presets" link at the top of the page.

Put this file on the desktop (AlchemyAllPresets.CamelSounds) and double-click to fix.

Peace,
Andy.

RIght. I just realized that I invoked the installer from inside of the Downloads folder. That's probably the reason why it picked up the CamelSounds from there.

Thanks

I don't see the 1.55 installer, only for player I see it.
For Alchemy it's 1.50

Why is that? The new browser really makes it faster for me to get to the sound (and type of sound) I want.

If I'm doing a clean install with this new RC (assuming at present I have no Alchemy on my hard drive), are there any special directions for me to follow?

Not really - just make sure you have:

1. the installer (!)
2. the Camel Sounds file for all sound libs + Factory
3. the All Presets file

Put all of these on the desktop, or in a single folder, and run the installer.

Peace,
Andy.

I think some users have found it difficult to change from thinking in terms of selecting a bank and category rather than deciding on the type of sound.

The new way IMHO (as a user not a Camel) is much faster when trying to find a sound.

e.g. choose "pads". Now you can browse through all the pads. The old way meant selecting each sound library (Factory, BigTone, then Biolabs etc.) then the category to browse through smaller groups of presets.

Peace,
Andy.

In a word, TMI! In the old browser you could have the advanced view open, select your sound bank, category (only categories present in the sound back would be displayed), and preset up at the top, bada bing, yer done. Now there are a bunch of extraneous fields I don't want or need.

I had no problems installing. I re-scanned for good measure.
