...... about time I started uploading some bits I think! :confused: Been playing around with this stuff for years without uploading much at all! Never had much focus I must admit. Hopefully finally getting around to putting some stuff up will get me going a bit more. In any case it's all good fun at the end of the day, which is why I bother doing this stuff in the first place of course ;) So here I am, throwing myself to the lions. Go easy on me! :o

I just played the first 5 tracks from your SoundCloud. they sounded quite promising, with some BOC similarities. The mixes sounded a little claustrophobic, but that could have been intentional. I enjoyed them.

Good work :)

Thanks for the feedback :wink:

I know the BoC influence is often painfully obvious. I can't help it! I'm a bastad for BoC so their influence is a big part of a lot of the stuff I do. But I'm influenced by a lot of other stuff so I guess the goal is to use these influences & build them into a sound that is more my own. But for now it's really about doing stuff I enjoy & (finally!) putting some of it out there.

With regards to the mixing - it's not something I'm paying too much attention to right now. In the past I've found myself being concerned with mixing & mastering before I've had much to mix and master! :shock: So apart from levels, basic EQ & panning I'm really not doing a great deal at this stage. It's more about getting stuff out there at this stage :)

EDIT: Recently uploaded this video I made for Boards of Canada's Collapse from their latest album. The YouTube copyright ID picked up the track so I ended up doing a reversed track version so I could upload the video;

This stuff is beautiful. it's not all reminiscent of BOC, the 2nd and 3rd tracks are coming from another place. I love how the 2nd track takes it's own sweet time. The 3rd track reminds me of a cut on The Shining soundtrack. Tracks 1 and 5 have a BOC vibe, but good BOC(their tunes are awesome when they're good, but can be uneven). The last track especially really took me there.

Thanks very much for your comments, Moe. Much appreciated :wink:

I'd be interested in a breakdown of the production on Plonk Unit(instruments & fx used, etc.). The sound really got to me.

It's mainly Reason on that track. The Faturator RE was used on the drums which were all from Kong. Fantastic device that one. I also used the ART RE to add a bit of grit and distortion. Synths used were Thor and Antidote with some reverb from the Uh-e Uhbik-A RE.
