Any other compressors comparable to DC8C-2 (w/sidechain)?

I'm probably going to buy this so i was wondering if there were any other compressors worth checking out for around the same money. I know it's unlikely but i thought i could test anything while i am able to return DC8C.
But from everything i'm reading and been told that is unlikely to happen! Is it really that good???

I think the only compressor that is on similar lines as DC8C-2, is currently DMG Audio's Comrpessive.
But that costs like 10 times more, and is hard to learn. If DC8C-2 get's upward compression, it's pretty much unbeatable feature wise.
Though don't count my word for it.

It's kinda what i'm expecting to hear, people are saying it's woefully cheap and should cost a lot more. What's the overall cpu hit like? I read it can be quite heavy.
K, i think i'll buy this tomorrow. I just want a goto for bus, parallel and character. I didn't think i'd be able to get it at this price but as i'm finding recently there is some really high quality stuff that could easily be overlooked. Cheers.

Not for the same money... but Presswerk, when it's out.

We even had Presswerk on our 4 machines at Musikmesse for everybody to discover (although not advertised), but it's really too early to talk about it. People who've used it already are mostly enthusiastic, a bit to my surprise, as I'm cautious. It's currently only a 'study', not entirely thought-through. We'll just have to see how it evolves.

I can highly recommend blue cat dynamics as an easy to use capable of everything all in one compressor. I it's in your budget please demo it. It also does upward expansion and compression. It's like a Swiss army. Don't forget big blue compressor either.

He meant Presswerk. "People who've used it (Presswerk)."

Nothing around the same money is as flexible and tweakable. It's a no-brainer, no-regret comp, even if you only ever use one of the models, it's still a great value. Tony is almost giving away a high-end comp plugin.musikmachine wrote:I'm probably going to buy this so i was wondering if there were any other compressors worth checking out for around the same money.
And for that we, thrifty KVR cheapskates, thank him. We'd like to thank him extravagantly and lavishly, but that would send the wrong message.
