Largo PPG Wave 3.V Waldorf Edition: Attack Waldorf Edition: D-Pole Waldorf Edition: PPG Wave 2.V

Post

Hi,

at their facebook page Waldorf music had announced the long awaited native 64-bit versions of Waldorf Largo and PPG Wave 3.V:

https://www.facebook.com/WaldorfMusic

quote (German):
Gute Nachrichten für Largo- und PPG-User: Die 64-Bit-Versionen sind jetzt im Beta-Test und zur Musikmesse als final angekündigt
english translation:
Good news for Largo- and PPG-users: The 64-bit versions are now at beta testing stage and announced as being final at the Musikmesse.

Currently testing those myself (Windows versions). I am not really sure if those will be at final stage until Musikmesse next week like mentioned there while theoretically it could be possible.

Those are two synths with multiple platforms each (e.g. Win VST, Mac VST, Mac AU) which is a "bit" of work.

Could not give additional informations at the moment (or better: not allowed to yet...).

UPDATE (04.07.2014):
The Release candidate of the Largo 64-bit update was published now:
http://www.waldorf-music.info/downloads-largo

The reported GUI bugs (Level/Mixer knobs + Delay Clock display), crashes while scanning the plugin, broken mousewheel support and FM-bug should be fixed now.
Additionally there was also a fix for hanging notes in the AAX plugin when using a MIDI-keyboard.

UPDATE (07.07.2014):
Waldorf has published the first Release Candidate (RC1) of Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V 64-bit:

http://www.waldorf-music.info/downloadsppg3

This was also notd at their Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/WaldorfMusic

Like with Largo no new features added with this update. The focus was on porting to 64-bit, VST3 and AAX.

UPDATE (07.07.2014):
Here is the link for the Waldorf Edition 64-bit Release Candifdate 1:

http://www.waldorf-music.info/downloads-we

Again this was mentioned at the Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/WaldorfMusic

Installers for the Waldorf Edition LE seem to be included too.

UPDATE (07.07.2014):
To sum it up Waldorf published Release Candidates for Largo, PPG Wave 3.V, Waldorf Edition and Wasldorf Edition LE now:

Largo:

PPG Wave 3.V:

Waldorf Edition:

UPDATE (17.07.2014):
Waldorf has just published the Release Candidate 2 for Largo:

http://www.waldorf-music.info/downloads-largo

As always any bug reports are welcome. Having all those avilable to the public should give the opportunity to find remaining bugs.

UPDATE (30.07.2014):

Waldorf just published a new Release Candidate 2 for the Waldorf Edition:

http://www.waldorf-music.info/downloads-we

This contains several fixes for e.g. aftertouch, GUI glitches, renaming patches in VST3 + AAX, loading fxb/fxp files to VST3/AAX by drag & drop from your file browser (e.g. Windows Explorer), a fix for licenses on OSX (does no longer have to be entered every time you opena plugin), etc.
Also problems with saving/loading patches in VST3/AAX format have been solved.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the drag & drop feature you could load fxb/fxp files to the VST3 or AAX plugins by moving the files from e.g. the Windows Explorer to the GUI of the plugin. After that you could save the imported patches in e.g. VST3 or AAX specific formats. If you want to use the drag & drop feature yu have to start your host/DAW without administrator rights (you could add this back later if drag & drop is no longer needed).

I have alraedy done this for all presets and those are included in this ZIP file:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/532 ... %20AAX.zip

- fxb/fxp files should be in C:\ProgramData\Waldorf in Windows and at Library/Audio/Presets/Waldorf for OSX
- VST 3 Presets should be at: C:\users\your name\Documents\VST3 Presets\Waldorf
- .Pro Tools Presets (for AAX plugins) should be at: C:\users\your name\Documents\Pro Tools\Plug-In Settings)
.
For VST3 and AAX you have to save a patch to create a new folder that is recognized by the host.
This will add folders like e.g. "Attack", PPG Wave 2_V", "D-Pole" etc. at the locations mentioned above.

Waldorf decided to not include a dedicated load/save feature in the current updates of the Waldorf Edition plugins.

One hint for everyone who wants to use his own patches in multiple formats is to first create them in the VST2 plugin and save the patches in the fxb/fxp format. This opens the opportunity to import the patches to VST3 and AAX by drag & drop (and saving in the corresponding formats then).

Let's hope they do a better job of it than Virsyn's recent f up!

Out of curiosity what did Virsyn do? Are they even in business anymore?
No signature here!

They announced the instruments were being upgraded to 64 bit but it turns out the 64 bit versions (so far just Cube is released) only work in Logic X and only on Mavericks - the installer won't even run on Mountain Lion. Hopefully they will reconsider this ridiculous idea before they release the others.

I understand you are angry concerning Virsyn but do you expect exactly the same from Waldorf too?

Waldorf Edition and Lector are already 64-bit (both Win and Mac) and after the current Betas all Waldorf plugins should be 64-bit (for both Win and Mac).

Based on the fact that Waldorf re-launched around 7 years ago (after being off a few years) their current product catalog is quite amazing IMO.
With plugins (Largo, PPG .V, Waldorf Edition, Lector), hardware VA synth (Blofeld desktop + keyboard), real anlog synths (Pulse 2, Rocket, 2-pole filter), a stage piano including different synth engines (Zarenbourg) and an iPad synth (Nave) they got a quite broad palette.
This is even more amazing based on the fact they are a quite small company with just a few developers.

Updates for their products (e.g. hardware) were either published recently, are work in progress or will be released in the future.

Former Waldorf developer Wolfram Franke who was an important long time developer and sound designer for the Waldorf plugins (and most hardware too) has his own iPad plugin now:

PPG Wave 3.V is one of my all time favorite plugins (for which i also participated in the original beta testing + factory sounds) and for me that update is more important than Largo (while i like Largo too).

My commercial PPG 3.V soundbank opposing to the Blofeld one (both at Waldorf Online shop) was selling quite bad so far and hopefully the 64-bit update will also increase the sales for that bank.

Better late than never I suppose. Still they should've worked harder on getting it out sooner.

Waldorf has updated their announcement at Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/WaldorfMusic

The new updates besides 64-bit for Largo and PPG Wave 3.V will also include AAX versions for ProTools users.
AAX versions for Waldorf Edition (64-bit update was already done) are work in progress too.

Very good news indeed! I like Waldorf synths, my first synth was actually a Waldorf, well kind of, the MicroWave PC by Terratec from way back. Last year came Lector, last Christmas Largo and today Pulse 2
AMD Ryzen 3900X & RX 5700XT, 128GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro 64-bit
Waldorf Blofeld & Pulse 2, Akai MAX49 & MPD226, Steinberg UR44 & CMC controllers
Cubase Pro 13, Nuendo 13, Wavelab Pro 12, Dorico Pro 5, Rapid Composer v5, FL Studio 21

Thanks Ingo! That's great news! I'm nudging closer to pulling the trigger on Logic Pro X. Sadly there are a lot of plugins in my folder that are currently bridging from 32.

Any word on when Nave is going AU/VST?
