Choose one of the 303 emulators, run it through a distortion or guitar pedal. Roland have released a digital 303 recently. You can't miss it, it looks like a prop from a Tron film.

Dunno if you get Computer Music mag, but i flicked thru it at the train station this week. They have 303 tutorial in there that might help.

This sounds to me like Phoscyon's built-in distortion. ABL's distortion, though quite nice, sounds different from this. It doesn't sound like a distortion pedal to me, this sounds digital.

I digital distortion pedal perhaps?

Edit: i just listened to the track.... its not particulary 303 ish, the slide isnt right. Any VA should do it. You just need a distortion to match.

Reminds me of the New Order - Confusion (pump panel remix?) from the film Blade

OT, I worked on that scene. :)

Phoscyon

I'm waiting for the second version.

There's a next version of ABL coming out as well.

Agree : Phoscyon/ABL2 or simply get the hardware clones and get a xoxbox (they are not that expensive if you know where you're looking). Of course there's the new Roland TB3 ( personally I prefer the xox, it just sounds more squelchy) sourced mine from http://www.willzyx.com/. Bit of research :http://www.ladyada.net/make/x0xb0x/resc.html

Do get a hardware distortion pedal makes all the difference (recommend the Dunlop MX104), I managed to source a TSX303 stomp box from ebay last week and it really does the job. I've run and tested several of the plugin distortions (NI GR5/AMP/Waves) and nothing quite gets the grit and rawness of the real thing.

Great link if you want to do some research and how to program those classic acid lines (the guy who runs it is still active and in my personal experience, a top bloke).

Best of luck, personally I have owned Phoscyon and do own ABL2...both very good emu's...you wont regret the hardware if you decide to bite the bullet.
