I use T-Racks 670 on vocals in a studio environment, but it's too cpu intensive for my sh**y live laptop, I use FL live, but don't really like the classic comp' or 'fruity limiter', help please?
.... Oh! And most importantly free.
Cheers.

I don't know much about compressors that sound good on vocals but I'd give Eareckon's freebie and delamancha's freebies a go:

But anyway, I'll try everything that's been mentioned, like I said, it's for live use, I'm after practicality rather that "good sounding", I have a two octave singing range, but also sream, shout, rap and sing in falsetto... I just need to make it all an even volume.

I'll try Blockfish first, it's ancient so a newer computer probably runs it no sweat.

IMO they sound good and also are very light on CPU... I still using Blockfish on Studio one and FL studio 11 on windows 8!!!

OK so yeah, use wayback to get the Dropbox link and then paste that in your address bar.

Oh great! Thanks... I've got Waves SSL and API on my studio computer, so I don't really have my finger on the pulse when it comes to free stuff.

Before I used the 670 from IK (like it very much) I took the Reaper compressor for vocals: amazingly unobtrusive and free.
