Logic Pro X+Yosemite=bad performance?

Hello,
since I upgraded to MacOS Yosemite I noticed a loss in perfomance with LPX (latest version).
The same song with the same plugins under Mavericks made my required less CPU that under Yosemite.
I had to reduce latency to 512 (before it was at 256) but still lots of bars in my CPU meter (iMac i7 3,4 32 GB ram).
For example: When I play one single note in Spire (factory 2 SQ Beauty V) one core is at the max.
Is there any reason for this issue?
I usually update all my plugins as soon as possible.
Is there a problem with my audio driver (RME Fireface 800)?
Thanks for your help/advices,
Florian

When you say "one core is at the max", did you measure cpu use with Activity Monitor or LPX's cpu meters? How do other AUs and Logic instruments perform for you?

Using Hosting AU (which has a very basic cpu % display), I've noticed that my AUs use a little more cpu under Yosemite than under Mavericks. But, what you're seeing seems much more dramatic. I'll be interested to know what others say about this as I've been considering moving back to Logic.

Unfortunately with every OS there are always teething problems, and macs have always been a bit of hit and miss with low latency audio.

Snow leopard was amazing, then it was all pretty bad until mavericks. Mavericks was the best OS since snow leopard for musicians and is the current 'sweet spot". It is still going to be compatible with stuff for a long time, personally not touching a new os till the next after yosemite. Logic and mav are a great couple.

I know this doesn't help, but perhaps you could wait for a logic update (they have done this before to address performance issues), perhaps the first Yosemite update, or what i would do, go back to maverick.

This is the key here. I have quite a few AU Instruments and I've seen this spike but ONLY for certian presets in a given AU Instrument.
I've seen this in some presets in ZebraHZ even on Snow Leopard.
It's not an issue with Logic Pro X , the OSX or even Spire, it's the preset.

If you really want to use that preset, record your melody with another preset that doesn't spike and then after that, switch to that preset set (in this example factory 2 SQ Beauty V) but make sure to referenced this article from Apple (last paragraph) regarding core distribution.

I have several videos that show that the above article from Apple works.

This one shows how to keep core distribution even when record but, notice the difference in the instruments I used. Logic, Kontakt 5 and PLAY.
