Hey thanks for the thanks, guys . Like many others, I'm really impressed with Hive. While I'm a bit miffed that some essential "dubstep-related" features are missing at the moment (I'm a big dubstep fan), Hive's architecture covers all the other popular genres extremely well. The ability to switch between different sound engines is one feature you don't see very often. While the features themselves are fairly standard fare, the sound itself is friggin' sweet . I love how the onboard compressor colors the character for that modern EDM/Electro House sound. Similar to Serum's compressor, but less piercing on the high end. Leaving the compressor off and using the "Dirty" engine allows for some nice retro 70/80s sounds without killing the CPU. I also like how switching between different engines even alters the character of the unison. I normally like to avoid using the unison feature in synths, but am going to make an exception in this case. Working on a much larger batch of patches for Hive at the moment, which will be included in the official release. Checking out various mixes by DVBBS, Swedish House Mafia, Avicii and others on YouTube for inspiration. As the EDM crowd is mainly what Hive is marketed to, it's best that I focus most of my efforts there for this project.

Hey, if anybody has sound requests for the Hive factory-included patches, drop me a note and I'll add them in here for you.

No requests? I'm supposed to submit my next batch to Urs soon and thought it'd be cool if some preset users had some input in what is included in this synth's factory sounds. As always, YouTube clips are helpful in showing what you're looking for.

I've been on a big Pad hunt lately and I think well done ones can really show off the character of the filter. I'd love some classic 90s trance warm pads for Hive. If I can find a few youtube examples I'll update this post.Xenos wrote:No requests? Thanks for taking input!

These sounds are great:

There's so much 'EMD' stuff floating around, I'm always hoping for some 'different' sounds...

Hey thanks, guys .
- Warm trance pads
- Videogame-like sounds
- more vintage sounds
...added to the "to-do" list . Those will do nicely for filling in currently missing niches. I definitely still need more EDM content as well...been having way too much fun taking Hive up in the hip hop/urban direction.
