Hi friends.

So... I have been looking into modular synths lately and nope, I am not talking about getting my hands on the great synth ACE or similar I am talking about a full-bodied Eurorack system containing a majority of Intellijel, Doepfer, Mutable Instruments and Make Noise modules.

I got a 9U/104HP handmade walnut case from Germany made by Weedywhizz. Really great case quality carefully shipped to Denmark in a lot of foam and wrapped in bubbleplast. The craftsmanship of the case itself is stunning... absolutely quality work with oiled finish and everything is prepared in the case so it's just a matter of mounting the power busses to the preassigned bolts.

I have scheduled the system on modulargrid.net here: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/147304

This is the case with the power busses mounted and below with the modules installed, or most of them at least, I still need Clouds which is a granular synthesizer:

Sweeeeet!

You should probably add Waldorf's NW-1 to it, too :)

That case is beautiful! :tu:

Sounds like you're going to have a really nice system there and a lot more pleasing to the eye than my ghetto 9u hehe... I'd love to order one but shipping a case like that over here is unfortunately pretty costly.

That case is seriously awesome. I wish I could get something like that, but with 45U of modules, that would have to be one heck of a case. I've thought about putting together something like that for a controller case with just Rene, Pressure Points, joysticks, etc, but I really don't have any tabletop space at the moment. I guess what I really need is a bigger studio! Anyway, it looks like you should be able to get a lot of enjoyment out of that system.

So many modules to choose from... I am actually considering a Clouds and/or and Elements as sound sources to top my DPO. And that will be it - I promise myself not to let GAS take over here, only 9U tops. I swear!

Thanks! Yeah, shipping can easily become more pricey than the case itself, good to meet you on MuffWiggler.

Made a few YouTube Eurorack demo's of my modular, the first is a demo of a sequencer the K4815 Pattern Generator by Kilpatrick Audio, second is a demo of the Make Noise Erbe-Verb. Just wiggling around, nothing fancy. Be sure to watch in 720p for best audio.

I recorded this demo of Clouds which is a granular texture synth for the Eurorack modular. First part are two different samples processed in normal granular mode.

Second part is a real-time processing of the CS80 wave from Braids receiving pitch from K4815 and going through Make Noise Echophon. In this second part, Clouds are in bonus mode number four (also called Spectral Madness) which is a developer left-over extra feature that you enter by pressing and holding the audio quality / blending mode button for five seconds. Note, the extra modes are not supported by the developer, but still amazing extra's.

There are four modes in Clouds in addition to mode number 1 which is the default granular engine.

1. Default granular processing.
2. Pitch and time stretcher.
3. Looping delay mode.
4. Spectral madness.

Enjoy...

waaaaah! lucky you ! did you sell your MS series for that lot? :D

without wishing to be a downer...
i'm getting a bit wary of modular (i'm skint and mean)

*could it*(??!!!!) lead to a life of random noodlings, such as seen
much over the web

because: ('notice') i think we're 'done' (especially with advent of SQ1)
with 'Randomesques' issue of 8 or 16 step sequencers. which is (terribly
sad) for people who've just done, what, 3-5000 grand on modules, in a
bid for Blip-Life.

some great demos by DeadMaus, doing entire tunes via his modular.
yet, i'm not suggesting that, even: a modular is just another synth format.
on the one hand you have fixed 'common configuration' readymade synths,
and on the other modulars you'll often end up patching just like that. or
doing 'randomesques' with.
'further!', please!

Hi Luftrum,

Thanks for the demo, I really enjoyed what I saw and heard. Lush sounds a-plenty!

I made this Eurorack Ambient improvisation of the Luftrum Modular yesterday (uploaded to YouTube 5 mins ago), it's 12:38 and slowly building up the structure so take your time, relax and put on your headphones.

The performance is featuring modules as Mutable Instruments Clouds, Make Noise Erbe-Verb and a little bit of Echophon as send FX from the Xenyx 802 mixer, Tiptop Audio Z8000 Matrix Sequencer driving the main sequence, Intellijel Quadra + Expander, Mutable Instruments Braids, Intellijel uScale, Make Noise DPO, Doepfer A-106-5 12dB SEM VCF and the Doepfer A-160 Clock Divider plus more...

Funny, I thought I was clicking (tapping) on a Tassman 5 thread. I was very confused.

:clown:

Nice rig. I wish I had the time and space for a setup like that. Oh, and the money.
