Did they stop putting 1/8" microphone inputs in to newer laptops? I have one that is a few years old and like to use the input. looks like most of the laptops I'm looking at right now do not have this?
is there a tiny bit more latency when using a 1/4" to usb? compared to just being able to plug into the older 1/8" inputs?

So you can only do one? With the combined input/output? Just like apple? Hate that

If you're shopping for a new laptop, spend your money wisely: add an audio interface. Even the cheapest USB audio interface will beat the shit out of 1/8" inputs & outputs on a laptop, in both latency and sound quality.
