Hello everybody,

INA/GRM has just released their latest product, SPACES which is an incredible new set of tools for those persons who work with Multi-channel projects and even for those of you working in stereo who want to add some ‘never been heard before’ effects into their mixes.

Image

Spaces is a brand new “GRM Tools” bundle that contains 3 multi-channel plug-ins that let you take control of how your sound sources move through the sound field whether it is a simple stereo file, a multi-channel setup or a multi-speaker diffusion network. It gives you the control over where you want to locate your sound and/or where you want it to travel to.

It gives an unprecedented control of the sound field with total automation of positions and trajectories as well as being able to spatialise your signal by up to 4 independent frequency bands with the module SpaceFilter or even enables the generation of up to 100 grains of spatial positions you can make your sounds hop to randomly with the module SpaceGrain.

GRM Tools’s Spaces is a powerful tool that enables the positioning and movement of a multichannel source (from 1 to 32 channels) in a multichannel space (from 2 (stereo) to 32 channels). It has a user friendly graphic interface showing the location and intensity of the sources as they move through the aural space of a project to help you in your work.

Spaces is included in the all new GRM Complete II Bundle which includes all 4 GRM bundles.

Hell Daags,

Well spotted.

Yes there are a lot of features that are the same on all the INA/GRM products and the marketing Dept. took the easy road.
I think it has been fixed now.

There is an upgrade available for those persons who want to go from the Complete I to the Complete II which includes the new Spaces.

It is best to get in touch with GRM directly as GRM takes care all of their upgrades themselves.

You can get in touch with GRM here, and ask about the upgrade plan:

http://www.inagrm.com/contact

By the way their English is very good, so there is no problem writing to them in English.

Yes, GRM does use iLok, as they have done for years, but I am not sure it applies in the case of this upgrade of Complete I to Complete II.

Best Regards,

Nick

I already purchased spaces, as I didn't know there was an upgrade. Is the upgrade discounted?

of course ...it wouldn't be much of an upgrade if it wasn't.

Post

Right, but I searched everywhere, and upgrade isn't mentioned anywhere.

If they actually provide that, then why the secrecy?

Post

Thanks for the cue Nick! I was really looking forward to this one :D

Demo is downloading now...

@Nick: for how long is the $199 DontCrack deal gonna last? Thanks.

Searched everywhere....except the Ina-GRM website it seems.

http://store.inagrm.com/en/content/8-upgrade
http://store.inagrm.com/8-upgrade-complete

As for the secrecy ...ummm ... ya, I'm not sure what you're refering to here.

Post

I'm not sure what you are trying to prove here, but this information was not on their site yesterday.

There wasn't even any mention of Spaces on the ina-grm site yesterday, so the email communication from Don'tCrack was the only communication available on the matter at the time.

I'm guessing most people interested in Spaces will be GRM Tools customers already, so it would have been very helpful
if DC mentioned that an upgrade will be available. Does that not make sense to you?

Post

seems to me you have an issue with Don't Crack.
and yes... it is a bit sly to jump the gun with an announcement earlier than Ina-grm, and neglect to inform people who might own the Complete Collection that there are upgrade options.

But then again ...why didn't you ask about upgrades, like I did ?

as far as our discussion goes, you asked if the upgrade would be discounted. I said of course. Then in response to that you made some statement about searching everywhere, and questioned if Ina-grm 'actually provide' an upgrade, and why the secrecy ... to that I simply showed you two seperate links on the Ina-grm site where the upgrade is mentioned - and the discounted price.

beyond that, as for as 'proving' something goes... I'll just leave that to you. And there's no need to prove to me that it wasn't there when you searched the first time around, as I'm not that interested if it was or wasn't. The fact is: there is an upgrade, it's not secret, it's discounted, I have provided the links for anyone having issues navigating the Ina-grm website.

thought I was being helpful.

cheers.

It's probably helpful for those who have not purchased it yet :)

Yes, my issue is technically with Don'tCrack, but I was under the impression that they are cooperating on this, with reference
to http://forums.plugivery.com/index.php?s ... ntry147620

On a more positive note I really like SpaceGrain and SpaceFilter, looking forward to experimenting with them some more.

Post

Kool... I can't afford it yet, but look forward to upgrading.

as far as the co-operating goes...well, ya, they are co-operating. it's just that don't crack didn't really think it important to let people know that there's upgrade options for Complete owners.... unless they specifically asked about it.

they (dont crack) did after all just cut a large portion of the GRM EVOLUTION page and paste it into the GRM SPACES page without even editing out the direct references to EVOLUTION or features specific to EVOLUTION ...
That illustrates either negligence, laziness, or eagerness to get the page up and net some early sales - like yours ... or maybe a combination of all three. So, whatever the reason for the cut & paste shenanigans, it may very well be the same reason for the upgrade options 'oversight'.

I'm sure it was an honest mistake though, and they'll honour refunds to those Complete 1 owners who purchased Spaces from them - unaware that there were Upgrade options.

Demoed the Spaces Bundle. A bit disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, not because the 3 plugins suck or are not good, but because the Bundle seems to be powerful and great for multi-channel projects only. Very very niche from what I’ve seen & tested so far. With ‘normal’ or standard stereo projects, I can’t really see any potential with those tools, nothing really new or out of the ordinary with them. I can already do pretty much all the same things with other tools I have. When carefully used in multi-channel setup projects, I guess this is where they really shine and push the possibilities to a whole new level. But since I don’t work with multi-channel setups I can't really tell nor really see anything special with the plugins.

Maybe someone used to work with multi-channel projects can tell & review?

I have to agree. The new Spaces bundle will basically do nothing for stereo productions and the marketing material shouldn't even mention stereo IMHO.

I am again in pains with these plugins... Only the panner seems immediately interesting for me but I'd need to buy the whole 250 euros bundle just to get that. (Programming a panner plugin myself that had roughly the same capabilities wouldn't be very difficult, just so time consuming I'd rather have it ready made...)

For surround granulation, the work I've done lately on my own HourGlass app will keep me happily exploring for years to come, so I have no need for the GRM surround granulator. (Well, the GRM one works as a plugin today, HourGlass yet doesn't...)

The surround filter I didn't really test yet, but I have the nagging feeling it's not going to be hugely useful.

Post

Agree too, a bit disappointed by the surround orientation of these new plugins.. I really like the Complete I bundle, but I don't think to upgrade, because less interest on stereo work..
