Tried installing the latest version but no luck
Have to say it is infuriating - whether it's Windows 8 or Tracktion, it's unacceptable.
And so the quest begins to sort this out

Has been working for months. Now every time I double click on the icon to open it, the computer freezes and I have to do a manual reset.

'Course, you can go to Windows 10 now and see if that's any better!

I sent the log file to Tracktion support.
I'm hoping it's not a problem with Windows 8 but I have noticed disk usage and CPU can go to 50-100% on a semi-regular basis....

I had this a while back.
Mine was caused by autoloading a project with a troublesome plug.
If you rename your tracktion.settings file here C:\Users\{}\AppData\Roaming\Tracktion 4, see if it opens.
Running as an admin sometimes helps.
I have disabled the reloading of projects on start to prevent reoccurrence.
