This suggests a darker, scarier Oz than the family friendly movie. We're not in Kansas anymore. :-o

The composition is strong. I like the sound design and the mix although there was too much reverb for my tastes.

Good job. :tu:

Wow. Your bass is gooood. As you said nice melody. I don't like the snare sound. Sounds a bit "sampled" in relation to the other sounds. Overall i like it. :-)

Dorothy meets Agent Scully. Nice mix. The bass and drums combine really well to produce a heavy groove and the pads are awesome as usual. Very enjoyable indeed.

Good work :)

agreed... i went a tiny bit overboard on the verb in toto's barking! ahhh well
glad you still enjoyed the other sounds and composition regardless :D

seriously though. i think the hats are the real overcooked reverb culprits. :dog:

Oh, that's barking! I didn't realize. Poor Toto. It sounds like you put him at the bottom of a well. :)

good ear, fool.... the whole percussion part could have been better matched to the other parts.
and as Frantz said, less verb.

The Akai AX80 has been a long standing favorite for bass in my music. some VSTs i use, like
TAL Elektro, Charlatan and Asynth have a sound that comes close to it....but not quite.
thanks for commenting :D

hi Tim! thanks for checking it out.
yeah, i gave it my special bass attention. did you
play it on your big system? if so, how did it sound on it?

i used the KLC M1 for pads originally, but then switched to the T2. it just sounds better to me. :phones:

I'll give it a spin at the weekend. My last few listens were on the Rokit 5 monitors. It sounded great on there.

Post

It sounded great on the big system, although I would have preferred a "smaller" snare sound, but with a bigger reverb. I think that would have been a better fit here.

Good work :)

Post

Enjoyed it! Like others have said the snare isn't my cup of tea. I would prefer a 'Bill Bruford' sounding snare. :)
Nice melody - well done!
Bandcamp
Music with progressive intent.

Rather liked the drums myself - interesting patterns. For some reason the track reminded me of the main title of "Midnight Express".

oh good, glad to hear. i monitor on some optimus die cast 4" woofer monitors. no subwoofer because the family made me get rid of the boom.

i may revisit this and change the drums some day.

thanks for stopping by, John :D

i was after a kind of OMDish effect with the out of place drum sound like on their song "of all the things we made"
i wonder if they got a split group on it as well, hahaa
