Review is up on Big Takeover Magazine!

Long Island’s Neorev finally returns to the physical format after six years with bona fide “best of” that collects collaborative highlights from his now out of print Bandcamp EPs with some stunning new material, proving, once and for all, that he is the best electronic artist you’ve never heard of.

Disrupt the Scene carefully celebrates the many modes of electronic dance music without sacrificing artistic integrity in the process. Most of the tracks center on hip-hop, beginning with the opening onslaught of “Sway” featuring rapper Marcuss, who also appears on “So Twisted.” Later, Centri brings a Kool Keith weirdness to “Prune Juice” and “Monetary Policy,” while Villain completely dominates the hardcore drum & bass of “Rough, Rugged, N’ Raw” and the dubstep attack of “Start the Revolution.” Kid Versus Chemical even drops jaws on the Wu-Tang-inspired “Smiles and Handshakes.” On the other side of the spectrum, It Was July adds an upbeat pop sensibility to “No Control” and “Revolution,” but shows range in darker tracks, like “Terrible Sky” and “The Switch,” and Noise Generator incorporate their industrial touch in “Shock Wave.” It’s not just dance music, it’s real music borne from electronics, but raised on a rock sensibility that stays away from the average 4/4 thumping you hear in the club.

At this point, Neorev should be Diplo, but he’s not, and maybe that’s a good thing. He’s still an artist who’s not afraid to take chances, beholden to no one but himself, and that’s perfect.

Hey Dirk,

First off, thank you so much for your support!

The CD is going to be sold through the official site on its own by itself.
Bandcamp is the place to grab the album in lossless as well as other formats of your choice.
Bandcamp is only $8 or more, if feel inclined to pay more...
But at the minimum $8, it makes Bandcamp the cheapest out of all the digital sites where as the other digital sites are MP3 only.

The CDs will be available on the neorevmusic.com very soon...
For folks in the US, it will be $15 with shipping included
Outside of the US, it will be $20 with shipping included

I hope this helps.
And again, thank you so much for showing your support.

Be well,

I'm actually kind of excited to hear this announcement. It was one of your many (respectfully) shameless self promotions I came across "No Control"...personally, I thought most of the music in the album was pretty lacking other than the album-titled track, No Control, which I found outstanding. The rest of the music was also up to par, but...well..at par. I didn't find it impressive, but I did think with the quality in No Control that a full album might have some pretty kick ass chunes.

I'll need to give this album a listen to. Can't buy it, hahahahaha...cause I'm dirt fuckin broke, but at least I can see if you've started writing more music that is up to the same quality as No Control.

Hey there,
Are you talking about the No Control EP that I released a couple of years ago? It had a boy with a bazooka on the front with men with gas masks behind him. It's technically considered an EP since it was in support of my previous album Children Of The Bomb even though it had a shitload of tracks... but it was filled with quite a few remixes as well. Yeah, I'll admit that EP release wasn't my strongest and a bit rushed at the time compared to the others. Those EPs were more about showcasing some leftover material from the album process along with some newer material that was written afterwards. "No Control" was one of those newer tracks.

But I hope you check out my new album Disrupt The Scene and have a pleasant experience. I feel this is a much stronger selection of tracks than from that older EP. Tracks like "Shock Wave" and "Rollercoaster" are in the same vein as "No Control," sorta rock-based electronic music. "Chip Away" was described by someone as "bass metal." But the new album also mixes up hip hop with dubstep and industrial and other genres of electronic music. It's also a very vocal album featuring many guest appearances. I appreciate you giving it a shot and hope you enjoy it.

Cheers!,

If you want an honest opinion from "rando-interholez guy"

I have to say, once again, I just wasn't impressed. Maybe No Control was just a one-hit-wonder for me. I like your mix of dub-wub-hop-and-bass that you got going on, but I listened to a few tracks and it always sounded like you had a good idea at the start of the track...and then did little with it. Sway is a good example; you got a fat-with-a-capitol-P-H bass, you got some kickin drums, and you got a rapper; GREAT!...now what? It's just that...over and over for the entirety of the 3 minute song. Also the screechy synth in sway isn't pleasant to listen to.

But, I am, after all, just one rando on the internet. It seems your fans on Soundcloud like what you do, so no reason to change - I mean, obviously you've gained more engagement from an audience than me, and I've been doing this for a long time; so obviously my idea of what is "right" is wrong, heh :hihi: .

Best of luck to ya! Even if I was disappointed with this album, I still like the ideas you have, so hopefully the next one will resonate more with me - I look forward to that.

Hey, to each their own... everyone has their own opinion.

This forum alone shows that, a KVR member bought the album both digitally and on CD while as the same time it wasn't your thing. But hey, you can't win over everyone. That's reality, no harm no foul.
I'm happy with the response with the album, it's been extremely positive. Folks are pre-ordering the CDs and it's been selling quite well digitally, which is a plus for any striving indie-musician such as myself.

Some of the tracks are written with old school hip hop structure (Sway, Prune Juice, Smiles & Handshakes) in mind while others are written with rock structures (No Control, Rollercoaster, Chip Away). If you listen to a lot of old school hip hop, it was the rapper who carried the verse/chorus/verse of the song where the backing beat had to be strong and subtle changes between the two. No Control is a more pop rock structure. It's funny because Sway and Start The Revolution has had one of the biggest positive responses from the rapper/dubsteppers while No Control and Rollercoaster resonated with the more rock background fans. Sway and No Control equally had great responses on Soundcloud. I wanted to make a diverse album that could bring together those different backgrounds. It is an electronic record balancing between rock and hip hop.

But I appreciate you taking the time to give it a shot.
