"Normal" means "non-psychedelic"
I made these tracks just in order to educate myself how such kind of music is made, so they both are pretty genre-standard, but maybe someone still likes it.
This one is more energetic

and this one is more mellow and relaxed

I'm sorry for bumping a thread which didn't generate much interest, but I really need a second pair of ears to finalyze the mixing of one of these songs.
Here is the new version, does it sound too abrasive at the high frequencies, especially the "plucky" synth part starting at 5:26, or my ears are lying to me? Thanks

I think it sounds fine. I think the pluck-lead should be more open and have more aggression (it is after all the lead) but it sounds fine to me!

Dakkra, thanks for your help, good to know that it sounds fine!
How do you guys know when it's done? When finishing a mix I'm always like: "oh no, this is too harsh, this is too thin, and this part is complete garbage, but I'm tired of all this stuff like hell"

It's honestly a personal concept of what "done" is. Technically speaking, no song is ever done. There are always changes or improvements that can be made. It really just lies on the artist to decide if it's at a point where he/she feels like it's ready to be released and starts on the next project.
