Got a message in the mail.
Reverberate has been update with the ability to load new fusion-its, described here:
http://www.liquidsonics.com/software_reverberate.htm
Looks much nicer too!
So my question is: How are fusion-its made and can we make them?

Is it possible for users to create their own FIRs? If so, how?
"Yes, or more precisely, yes in future. I'll be making the file format public but it will require a bit of a nerd to use it so I'll probably work with a few keen individuals first before taking it to the wider audience. Also, a tool will really be needed to make it simple for people that don't like the idea of diving into Octave/Matlab/Python. BUT beware any reverb you want to capture needs to be on an extremely low noise path or it's going to grab all the muck and dirt in a pretty obvious way (maybe some people like the sound of a noisy DAC, but I don't that much so have worked hard to keep these IRs really clean). We usually do swept sine to keep the noise in an IR sampling process under control, but Fusion-IR is incompatible with that, so we can't fake super clean IRs out of noisy old classics with this. Maybe some will see that as a good thing though."

I updated today...the libraries are huge but the download sucks so i did not listen yet.
Its takes over a day to download 3 gb, i am still waiting so we will see.
But i know it will be great, even version one was good.

Good post, thanks for that.Breval wrote:This was posted at GS-

But not to cause confusion, I think I saw Waves use the term FIR - and stood for Finite IR for their H-Reverb when it was released.

Yes FIR is typically taken to mean Finite Impulse Response, a standard in DSP. It's basically a filter without any feedback elements. All convolution reverbs are processing really long FIRs.lfm wrote:Good post, thanks for that.Breval wrote:This was posted at GS-

Fusion-IRs are packs of many FIRs, just like true stereo quad files are. So it's a bit of a namespace clash here when used as an acronym!

I had a play with the Beta of v2 and it sounds fantastic, the editing functionality is impressive and the included IR's are very good. Will be grabbing the update this week.LAGinz wrote:Has anyone listened to version 2 yet? Any takes on it?

I emailed Liquidsonics about the poor download speed, and they have now added their links to an Amazon server so download speed is now very fast. Thanks Liquidsonics!!!BasariStudios wrote:I updated today...the libraries are huge but the download sucks so i did not listen yet.

Thanks Tpot...my downloads finished as they were, yesterday, i downloaded only the 41khz,
if download improved i might get the 96ghz too...if that makes any difference in the Sound.

You'll only really benefit from the 96k files if you're running above 44.1k, otherwise it's just a waste of disk space and CPU resampling time when loading the Fusion-IRs.BasariStudios wrote:Thanks Tpot...my downloads finished as they were, yesterday, i downloaded only the 41khz,

Yo can check out these which were made when I created the tech, it shows the effect of Fusion-IR.billcarroll wrote:Are there sound examples somewhere?

Here are some more demos (forgive the quick and dirty playing... music by Torroba):

If you reverse polarity on two identical tracks with convolution reverb (w/out modulation) they should null.
Do the same with a Fusion IR and you can see why there's more liveliness:

I've never used a Bricasti so I can't comment on the comparison, but as soon as I tested the beta of Rev2 I realized how static normal convo verbs are... Thumbs up.
