Sirens
A bit different to how we often make a track. Started this with live improvs - Paul on drums and myself playing bass. The bass was detuned to C for that slack sound ... The rest was added after…
Thanks for listening…

Thanks phoenstorm! We have used this approach a few times in the past, maybe we should use it more often.phoenstorm wrote:quite a journey! I think that improvisational approach worked well for you guys...it's a fascinating listen and always keeps it interesting!

Wow! Thanks for the enthusiasm, it is always great when someone likes what you do! I am very lucky to have Paul drumming with me! Funny, we have be playing together for so long we almost have a telepathic connection (if I believed in that sort of thing...)layzer wrote:new Allomerus! cool! i like how this one builds. great drums by bro as usual. great bass/guitar playing and vintage touch by the tron choirs.

The detuned bass and drums without hi-hats gives this a gloomy sound. Once the bassline kicks in, it sounds like spooky apocalyptic dance music. A chance for zombies and skeletons to rattle their bones in a midnight dance.
Good job.

I like the way this one builds up. I've listened 3 or 4 times now and it seems like you have managed to pack a lot into a 4-minute piece of music. Lots of highlights on here - the "rubber-band" sounding bass, assorted guitar sounds, a sparse, but heavy drum sound and lashings of unearthly 'tron. I really liked the creepy e-piano ending too. It's great to be able to work stuff out via improv. Music often seems to arrive out of nowhere, which wouldn't dare reveal itself via more "conventional" compostion.
Is the 'tron making another comeback? It certainly feels that way, going by the number of new tracks that seem to feature it in one guise or another.
Good work

Thanks for all your listens and comment Tim! Took a while for me to feel happy about this, trying out different mixtures of 'Tron so it would build nicely. I wanted layers of sounds and chords with some notes holding for a longer time. The end piano echoes the electric piano with jazz chords at the start.seismic1 wrote:I like the way this one builds up. Also, the idea was to make a compact epic so I am glad you noticed that aspect!
All the best... Hope to hear more of yours again soon.
As far as the Tron making a comeback I think it certainly is, what with plugins and iPad apps making carrying it around so easy. I read that even Robert Fripp uses the ipad version!!!

Very cool track Allomerus.. Lots of little shifts of direction, always interesting and engaging. I love the dark jazzy vibes in the early part of the track, and the e-piano ending. Nice

Thanks sazb30! I wanted it to be otherworldly hence the odd mix of instruments and styles... Glad you enjoyed it!sazb30 wrote:Very cool track Allomerus..
