Unable to trigger hammer on in shreddage bass

I am having an issue triggering the hammer ons in shreddage bass: picked edition. I have been using shreddage 2Ibz so I understand how to program them by overlapping notes, but it's just not triggering that way when I listen back. Admittedly, I'm a little confused about this particular way of using Kontact that has what appears to be 5 patches loaded simultaneously. In IBZ, there's only 1 patch and all of the functions are pretty clearly explained in the manual, but with this version it's throwing me off a bit.
Does anyone else have any recommendations?

Are you using Shreddage Bass 1 or 2?

I'm using Shreddage bass 1 picked edition, will most likely pick up 2 in a few months.

OK - you just need to load one of the Combo patches and then play legato in the upper velocities (65+)!
