3 daws at once, and recorded by a standalone?

Has anybody, for whatever unique features/reasons, run three (or more)
daws at once, also with a standalone app contributing,
and recorded all their outputs with a separate app?
And since some daws can be hosted in another daw, has anyone
hosted two or more daws at once, and recorded
the threesome/foursome successfully?
Cheers

I have run EXT/FLS/Maschine all at the same time inside Reaper with Renoise on the Rewire input at the same time (Did it for fun and testing more than anything else though)
I have also run Maschine inside Reaper for a sequence with Virtual DJ REArouted in to Reaper, Virtual DJ had a Maschine instance loaded on each deck and each Maschine was not only controlled by the Maschine hardware but also by DVS (Again for testing and fun, not something i would take out on the road at this point)

That sounds like quite a party. I know nothing about Maschine,
beyond it's makers pedigree, but it must be pretty solid
and efficient to run in such mixed company. Trying new things
whether 'just for fun', or in search of solutions/creations
reveals new possibilities. Looks like some reading is in order.
Maschine has been around for awhile, and renoise has a demo.
I use reaper for basics, but haven't even considered using the
rewire support. Hurray for the weekend!

But yes I have, it wasn't as outlandish as your young inexperienced mind might imagine.
But there was alot of speed and hookers involved, I wouldn't recommend it to those of weak character or ginger haired

He's talking about hosting 'two or more DAWs at once' inside another one. That's why he says 'threesome/foursome' not 'twosome'glokraw wrote:And since some daws can be hosted in another daw, has anyone

The semantics of the OP and subsequent replies aside, the question I would ask is:
Why ?
Other than because one can technically, what is it that's trying to be achieved here in terms of producing music ?

Why won't you delete this account as I have requested Ben ?

Each daw has special capabilities/liabilities, beyond the basics.
And in some cases, their own plugins, and sound generators.
Just checking to see if people are taking advantage of combinations
outside the traditional boxes, to broaden their capabilities,
and which applications allow such flexibility.
Cheers

I had thought about this years ago when DAWs were much more different from each other. I used Reason in Pro Tools as an instrument, not as a DAW. But I also had Sonar which came with a bunch of great VST instruments but was difficult to use because of the latency.
But without running it on a second machine, I couldn't figure out how to make it work. Because only one can control the audio at a time so you have to use rewire. And very few DAWs act as slaves. I guess you can run Reason, Ableton and maybe FL (I don't own FL but I understand it is like Reason in that it can be a slave?) at the same time. Good luck with not crashing.
It is an interesting thought though. Just from a how to make it work standpoint.

With an RME soundcard you can run whatever you want and record wherever you want.
I've run Live and Reaper together, standalone, but it was pointless so I just bounced everything out and continued working in Reaper.
If you want to pipe audio from one daw to another you can easily do that in RME though its not entirely click free in my experience.

I did not know that......
And now I know why - I checked the price on them. They are a little out of my range. And? I don't really need to run 2 DAWs at the same time to make it worth the cost. But it is good to know.
Live will work as a Rewire slave, so it doesn't need another sound card. I haven't tried it yet. Like you, I just bounce it out.
