Besides it being basic, I'm not 100% certain what this song is. First and foremost, I'd like to know if this even fits into a genre XD
That out of the way, this is a little something I ended up working on today.

I'd like to know what you guys at KVR think of it; particularly the mastering of the track, and to a slightly lesser degree, the composition. Thanks in advance for your time and criticisms!
EDIT: That keystroke sound on the high piano is still bugging the crap outta me. Anyone know a way of getting rid of that in Piano One?

Well,I don't usually listen to this kind of music,so I can't help you with the genre question. That being said,I like the track, sounds relaxing.
Couple of pointers from my perspective:
-The melody is quite nice, but it gets a little repetitive
-at 0:40-1 min the piano hits my ears in a bad way because there's only the beat backing it,maybe try adding something extra in there?
-The only way (I can think of now) to get rid of the keystroke sound is to shape the piano with some subtle EQ
-Mastering and the mixing in general are good to me,no complaints there
All in all, nice track, keep going dude!
PS:If you're interested,here's something I made recently:http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 4&t=461151

Makes music that sounds like it came out of a game or film.

-Yea, I'm trying to steer myself away from the repetitive 2-3 4bar melodies slowly. Would you recommend 8bar and beyond melodies, or simply more melodies (still 4 bars, just more of them)?
-That's exactly what I'm talking about. Some EQ you say? Which frequency range would I cut/add to?
-Glad to hear the master turned out ok, I get kinda conscientious when I mainly use 1 or 2 Vsts to master most of a track XD
I'll certainly look at your track. Just judging from the tab title, I think I'm gonna like it c:

I like this!
Let's call it - "Spastichill" or not, but either way this was fun to listen to.

I like this but I don't like the piano in your face parts like at about :42. It dosen't work for me at least. Maybe scratch that or pull it back some, change the sound and add something.

Fair enough. I get that the piano sounds kinda harsh, I'd blame that more on the octave than anything else (it seems to do some not so great things once you get high). I'll probably pull back on it (or, I will next time a track of mine has a piano), aaaaand I'll have to rethink giving it a solo XDfastlanephil wrote:I like this but I don't like the piano in your face parts like at about :42. Thanks for your input!

Well, I don't have any idea what genre it is either. Some kind of stripped down EDM, I guess. But I wouldn't consider myself knowledgeable enough about that kind of thing to be able to tell you.
Anyhow, I like it. It's very chill, although perhaps a little bit too stripped down at times. I felt like maybe you could throw in some pads or something to go with the rapid rhythms and piano ostinatos.

ease up on compression and brickwall limiting. the whole thing sounds dynamically constrained. imho.... sometimes the piano is mixed too loud in the high registers (shrill and piercing).
this is a Dynamic Range meter screenshot of your song at about 1:45 it reads 2.9 the average is 7 - 10 with 0 being the most compressed.
that's some ridiculously squashed audio there.

Alright, thank you all for the feedback! I'm currently in the process of amending the song according to what some of you have suggested, as well as making a few adjustments I've been wanting to make. I'll make sure I keep things like these (Free the sound, make less basic songs, particularly XD) in mind for the future. I'll update this comment when I come out with the new piece.
